About Sennen-no-Sono Lavender Garden

The Sennen-no-Sono Lavender Garden covers an area of 4.7 hectares (about the same size as one Tokyo Dome) with approximately 20,000 lavender plants. Lavender is a plant native to the Mediterranean region, and in Japanese climates, it is often grown in relatively cool and humid regions such as Hokkaido and Nagano Prefecture. Ranzan-cho, Saitama Prefecture, is an area with hot and humid summers, but the town has many plantings of the lavantine variety "Grosso," which tolerates the heat and has a strong fragrance. In addition, we have selected varieties suited to the land of Ranzan Town and will hold the "Ranzan Lavender Festival" when the lavenders are at their best so that visitors can see 10 different varieties of lavenders with different colors and fragrances.

About "Ranzan Lavender Festival

The "Ranzan Lavender Festival" will be held for the fifth time since its grand opening in 2019. The "Lavender Picking Experience (1,000 yen)" allows visitors to pick sweet-smelling "Lavender Grosso," which accounts for 90% of the lavender plantings, with no limit on the number of people who can experience it. In 2023, 5,660 people experienced this event over 17 days. At the craft workshop adjacent to the event site, visitors will be able to make lavender sticks and flower baskets (1,000 yen each) to take home the fragrance.

Also new this year, visitors can try their hand at making bottled flowers (1,000 yen each). Dried flowers, such as lavender and Globe amaranth, cultivated in the Sennen-en Lavender Garden, and statice grown in the town of Ranzan, are sealed in glass containers and will last for a long time. Even children can enjoy the flowers as they are selected and packed in the bottle.

You can also enjoy lavender soft-serve ice cream, lavender smoothies, lavender soda, and other lavender-related sweets that evoke the gorgeous fragrance and scenery of lavender, as well as snacks and local gourmet foods perfect for a break after viewing the lavender blossoms, including temporary stalls of local restaurants and kitchen cars. Lavender seedlings and flower ears will be sold by local growers, and other products will be available for visitors to enjoy lavender at home.

In addition, the event site has been relocated to be closer to the parking lot, and the parking lot has been expanded to provide 510 parking spaces to accommodate more visitors. For visitors to enjoy the memorable scenery, we have added photo spots in the park where they can take pictures with the lavenders in the background.

The official SNS of the Ranzan Town Tourist Association will provide real-time information on the "best time" to view the lavender during the event.
