Prior to the opening, the hotel will sign a disaster agreement with the town of Ganraku on May 20, 2024, and will hold a pre-opening facility tour at HOTEL R9 The Yard Ganraku on the same day.

Background of the opening of the hotel and the disaster agreement with the town of Amaraku in Gunma Prefecture

HOTEL R9 The Yard Amaraku, the eighth hotel to open in Gunma Prefecture, is located near the Amaraku Smart IC and Tomioka IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway, along Route 254 and Tomioka Bypass. There is a cluster of factories within a 5-minute drive from the hotel, and Cain's Super Center Tomioka Amaraku, which contains a supermarket and general stores, and drugstores are located within walking distance, making it convenient for business and long-term stays.

The property is also within easy reach of popular spots such as Konnyaku Park, Mentai Park Gunma, and Wild Kingdom Gunma Safari Park, as well as golf courses, making it a good base for sightseeing and golfing on holidays.

Develop has been promoting the signing of disaster relief agreements with local governments with the aim of strengthening cooperation with them. This agreement with the town of Amaraku will enable the hotel to provide rooms to the town of Amaraku as a "rescue hotel" in the event of a disaster or other emergency, taking advantage of the hotel's disaster-prevention capabilities. In addition, the hotel will collaborate with Tomioka City and other rescue hotels in the prefecture, aiming to contribute to the development of a disaster-resistant town.

The phase-free hotel, which will serve as a shelter in the event of a disaster, will help to prevent disasters without making provisions for them.

The Rescue Hotel was realized based on the experience of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The birth of Rescue Hotel

After the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, we entered the area soon after the disaster to construct containerized stockpile warehouses and accommodations for reconstruction workers. Witnessing the situation of people in the disaster-stricken areas who were forced to live under great strain in many evacuation centers, the Rescue Hotel was born out of the desire to provide a safe and secure private space quickly and conveniently after the disaster struck.

As the first example of a moving hotel, a container used as accommodation for reconstruction workers in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, was relocated to Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, and reopened as HOTEL R9 SANOFUJIOKA in October 2017. The first "HOTEL R9 The Yard" series opened in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture in December 2018, and the series has since been expanded to other locations throughout Japan. We aim to create a system in which rescue hotels can be dispatched promptly to any location in Japan.

Rescue Hotel Dispatch Results

In April 2020, the Rescue Hotel was dispatched for the first time as a contingency measure to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus on board a Nagasaki cruise ship. Subsequently, the hotel was dispatched to Mitaka City, Tokyo, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and private hospitals in Tokyo to strengthen the PCR testing system. The air-conditioned guest rooms were used to reduce the burden on medical personnel by allowing them to conduct medical treatment activities regardless of season, weather, etc.

In December 2021, 126 rooms were dispatched to Tochigi Prefecture as temporary medical facilities to respond to the spread of the sixth wave of the new coronavirus and Omicron strain. In addition, a total of 21 rooms were used as ancillary facilities for temporary medical facilities in Chiba and Tokyo prefectures from February. The Rescue Hotel can be used not only as a lodging facility but also as an examination room, nurses' station, etc., thanks to its independent guest room structure of one unit per guest room, and is increasingly contributing to local healthcare as a contingency infrastructure for municipalities and private hospitals.
