Yanagiya Kannon (abbot: Toshihide Kusaka) in Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture, which has been worshipped by emperors, court nobles, and people suffering from eye diseases since the Heian period as a prayer center for healing eye diseases, will hold "Yanagiya Kannon Shinryo Week" from April 27 (Saturday) to May 6 (Monday), 2024 during the Golden Week holiday period.

Located on a hill higher than Kyoto City, visitors can feel the breath of spring a little later and enjoy the fresh green of bamboo and other fresh greenery from the temple grounds and Kamishoin (upper drawing room). The temple grounds are spacious and uncrowded, allowing visitors to take their time in visiting and strolling around.
Please enjoy the fresh breeze and the beauty of nature at the historic Yanagiya Kannon.

◆Kamishoin Special Open House
The Kamishoin, which is open to the public only once a month on the 17th, will be open to the public during this period.
The Kamishoin, which has been open only to emperors, court nobles, and special guests, overlooks the Jodoen Garden, which was selected by Mirei Shigemori as one of the 100 best gardens in the ancient capital before World War II, and is loved by many VIPs for its beauty. It was also used as a filming location for the movie "Nihon no ichiban nagai hibi" (The Longest Day in Japan), and in recent years, it has been introduced in numerous media, including the Japan National Tourism Organization's overseas magazine books. It is also currently being used in a commercial for Idemitsu Kosan. We hope you will all take a look.

◆Yanagitani Kannon and Tsubosaka-ji Temple collaboration red seal
This is a collaboration red seal featuring cherry blossoms at both temples: Tsubohan-ji Temple, famous for its Great Cherry Blossom Buddha, and Yanggoko-ji Temple, famous for its yangko cherry blossoms, which were featured in a movie.
Someiyoshino cherry trees have a long history as the representative cherry tree of Japan. The yōkō-zakura cherry tree was created over a period of 30 years to mourn students who died in the war. We hope you will make a connection with Kannon-sama, who has had a sacred power to cure eye diseases since ancient times, through red seals and visits to the temple.
The red seal is completed after visiting two temples. A special seal of Kannon will be stamped at the second temple.

Visitors can choose a flower (paper art) with a fortune tied to it and make a flower omikuji at the reception desk. You can take the flower you choose home with you, so please enjoy walking around the temple grounds with the flower in your hand.
◆Shinryo Week limited vermilion seal "Buddhist connection vermilion seal" (only for written orders)
This is the 10th of a series of sutra-text red seals that are awarded 12 times each week. If you collect them all, you will receive a one-of-a-kind Enmei Jukku Kannon Sutra.
