BSI Group Japan (British Standards Institution) releases BSI Opinion Statement based on PAS 2060 BSI Opinion Statement for Carbon Neutral Issued to Starts CAM Co.

BSI Group Japan K.K. (located in Minatomirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama; President & CEO: Masaki Urushihara) has completed the verification of three standardized projects for Starts CAM Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Hideyuki Naoi; hereinafter "Starts CAM") to achieve carbon neutrality in accordance with PAS 2060:2014 (*1). (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideyuki Naoi; hereinafter referred to as "Starts CAM") for three standardized projects to achieve carbon neutrality (construction period: June 5, 2023 to December 22, 2023) based on PAS 2060:2014 (*1), and the verification was completed.

Recently, global warming, climate change, and other global-scale problems are becoming more serious due to the increase in emissions of greenhouse gases such as oxygen dioxide resulting from our economic activities.

For this reason, the international community has been holding the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 1995. At COP26, held in the United Kingdom in 2021, it was clearly stated that efforts should be made to limit the average temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by around 2030.

In response, countries are accelerating their efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions more than ever.

BSI Group has established PAS 2060, a standard for demonstrating carbon neutrality. We are also developing verification operations for this standard on a global basis. In order to combat global warming, it is an inevitable theme for each organization to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and work toward net zero emissions.

The verification of PAS 2060 for Starts CAM is the first case*2 in the Japanese construction industry, and as a leader in the industry, the company has actively demonstrated its commitment to environmental impact reduction and sustainability.
