What is amagami kyoto?

amagami kyoto" is a cream puff specialty store that was opened in July 2020 as the first store under the sister brand of "okafé kyoto" by Okada, who has won a barista championship, with the passion to make people smile not only with coffee but also with sweets. As a result of our research into "amagami," or sweet bites, and their beauty, ease, cuteness, and compatibility with coffee, we developed Temari-shaped cream puffs, approximately 6 cm in diameter, using a variety of seasonal ingredients. This new sweet is truly a fusion of "tradition and innovation" that combines the Japanese style of Temari with cream puffs, a representative overseas sweet. The selection of more than 10 kinds of cream puffs is changed in succession, using unique ingredients depending on the season.

All cream puffs are handmade by our patissier, and we are particular about not only the taste but also how pretty they look. The assortment of cream puffs packed in a wappa (a small wooden box) has become the talk of the town, looking like a jewelry box, and has been featured in numerous media such as "Magical Restaurant" and "Yasutomo Tomochika no Kimetzke! and many other media outlets, and although it has only been in business for three years, it has become a popular cream puff specialty store.

Reasons for the Renewal

In 2023, the number of foreign tourists is increasing and the city of Kyoto is coming back to life. However, since the beginning of 2023, we have been able to attract many customers not only from Japan but also from abroad. In addition, demand for souvenirs that can be used by local customers in cafes or as gifts is also increasing.

We are pleased to announce the reopening of our shop with new products that are perfect for this demand, including pound cakes, baked goods, and canelees. We are committed to making everything handmade by our patissier, and will continue to strive to be a genuine pastry store that is loved by both local customers and tourists alike.

The "amagami cream puff" cannot be missed as a representative menu item of our store. After three years of research to create our famous cream puffs since our opening, we have finally completed it.

The rich amazake custard cream is made from sake lees. It is characterized by the mellow amazake flavor that lingers on the palate. Almond soybeans are added to the puff pastry for an extra savory flavor. The homemade amazake custard cream is filled to order, so you can enjoy the crunchy texture of the puff and the amazake flavor at the same time.

The canele is made with high quality vanilla and rich cane sugar from Tahiti, and baked slowly to create a crunchy outside and a moist inside, resulting in a richly flavored canele.

In addition, an assortment of pound cakes and baked goods that can be taken home or enjoyed at home for gatherings will also be released.
