Will the 44-year-old World Champion be born? Otaru City native and Thailand's S Featherweight Champion, So Oba, meets with Otaru Mayor Otaru City Mayor Toshiya Sako

Thai professional boxer Ohba Soh Ohba, born June 30, 1980 in Otaru City, representative of Team Bakabon Yokohama West, will meet with Otaru Mayor Toshiya Hazama at Otaru City Hall on Friday, August 18.

Will the 44-year-old World Champion be born?
Sou Oba is a Japanese professional boxer from Thailand who has been competing in Thailand since November 2016. In fact, he is a "genetic heir of a prodigious boxer" with the late legendary champion Masao Oba as his uncle.
After his amateur career, Oba made his debut as a professional boxer in Thailand with the support of his uncle, the late Masao Oba's mortal rival, Thai national hero Chatchai Chionoi.
He was already 36 years old when he announced his decision to turn professional on September 25, 2016. Although a very late bloomer for a professional boxer, he made a strong debut just 60 days later with a 2RTKO victory in Rangsit, Thailand.
After that, he continued his winning streak. With the approval of the WBU World Super Featherweight Title, the first Japanese ever to win the WBU World Super Featherweight Title, the birth of a 44-year-old World Champion is now a reality. (The world fight is scheduled for next fall.)
This time, Ohba's donation for the children of Otaru City led to a meeting with Mayor Sasako.
Donation of 1 million yen for the children of Otaru City
As a child, Ohba suffered from a mental disorder. However, he says that his "heart" was saved by his encounter with boxing.
In recent years, the issue of children's "mental" problems such as truancy, withdrawal, and crime at a younger age has come under close scrutiny throughout Japan. There is a strong social need for educational institutions and related personnel who can understand and respond to such children's "mental" issues.
Otaru City is nationally recognized as a "municipality where it is easy to raise children" by implementing the Otaru City Child and Child Rearing Support Project Plan as needed.
Various organizations and municipalities have visited the Otaru City Child Development Support Center, which supports the development of children with concerns about their mental and physical development and adaptation to the environment, such as communication, through group and individual medical care and education.
In May of this year, Ohba donated 1 million yen to Otaru City in order to support the city's efforts.
Mental problems can occur suddenly and unexpectedly to anyone, and there must be many children who are suffering in secret. We believe that there are things that we can talk about because we have experienced and overcome such suffering, and that we can be of help through boxing.
After Corona, the number of elementary, junior high, and high school students receiving boxing instruction has skyrocketed.
The number of elementary, junior high, and high school students who take boxing lessons at "Team Bakabon Yokohama Nishi," a boxing group organized by Ohba, to relieve stress and overcome "mental" problems, has increased 1.5 times compared to the number of students before Corona.
What we do there is special boxing instruction with mindfulness in mind, a method we devised in cooperation with voice training classes.
We start training when the brain is in an alpha state by practicing the unique breathing of a boxer, the good smell of aroma oil, and meditation induction.
Although there are individual differences, in some cases the effects can be seen after just one training session, and children's facial expressions can be improved to a different level in as little as 6 months at the most.
Even children who are not comfortable with medical treatment will enjoy coming when I say, "Let's do boxing and become cool!" and they enjoy coming.
We will discuss this teaching method in detail at the meeting.
