WORLD BEER AWARDS 2023 World No.1 by style Winner for three consecutive years! Iwate Kura Beer's world-class quality beer

Se Ureshinoichi Sake Brewing Company (Iwate Brewery Beer), a brewery in Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture, entered five varieties of its beer brand "Iwate Kura Beer" in the "World Beer Awards 2023" held in the UK. Among them, Chocolat Stout (a black beer with a hint of chocolate) was awarded first place in the world in the style category (World's Best Flavoured Chocolate & Coffee).

This is the third consecutive year that Red Ale has won the World's Best Flavored Chocolate & Coffee award, as Red Ale won the World's Best Flavored Chocolate & Coffee by style for the second consecutive year last year.

What is the World Beer Award 2023?

The World Beer Awards 2023 is a global beer competition held once a year by Paragraph Publishing in the UK.

The judging stage is divided into Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3.

　Round 1: Each country's representative in each style is chosen and a "Country Winner" is selected.

　→In this year's competition, the winner of Round 1 becomes the Country Winner (i.e., the representative of Japan) and earns the right to advance to Round 2 (we selected Chocolat Stout and Sanriku Oyster Stout).

　Round 2: Representatives from each country compete to select the "World's Best Style," the world's best of each style (our Chocolat Stout is selected).

　Round 3: From the World's Best Styles, the "World's Best Category" will be chosen to top the 9 categories that integrate the styles.

*Not everyone can become a "Country Winner" if there are only a few entries, and the title is awarded only after meeting the standard score.

*More than 3,200 entries from more than 50 countries were submitted this year (FY2023). The number of entries from Japan this year was 103, and 24 beers were chosen to represent Japan as "Country Winner" after sneaking through Round 1.

Iwate Kura Beer is a beer brand launched in 1995 by Iwate Prefecture's sake brewer, Se Ureshinoichi Sake Brewery. Iwate Kura Beer is a craft beer brand born from the brewery's sake brewing techniques and the experience and knowledge of its brewers. It has won awards at many international competitions and is highly acclaimed.

The brewery manager, Takanori Goto, is certified as an Iwate Prefecture Young Master Craftsman.

We launched our beer business in 1955 under the brand name "Iwate Kura Beer. Although it is a small microbrewery with three employees, its quality has been recognized worldwide, winning numerous awards at the World Beer Cup and World Beer Awards.
