The Japan Wine Competition, Japan's largest wine competition targeting "Japanese wines" made from 100% domestically produced grapes, invited university professors and experts from four countries including France and the UK for the first time in four years, and held a judging session in July, The judging was held in July and the results were announced in the same month.
On Saturday, September 2, the awards ceremony was held at the Yamanashi Prefectural Government Office for the 18 wineries that received Gold Awards. Wineries from Osaka and Kyoto, which received Gold Awards for the first time this year, also participated.

In the afternoon of the same day, a seminar with tastings for the general public was held in Kofu City, co-sponsored by the Japan Winery Association, with nearly 100 wine lovers in attendance, where the wineries provided detailed information on the latest trends in Japanese wine and their winemaking methods, The seminar was a great success.
Tasting of 10 award-winning wines at the seminar for general consumers
On September 2 (Sat) from 2:00 p.m., a seminar was held at Hotel Danrokan in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, where winemakers tasted and explained 10 wines that had won gold and silver awards (participation fee: 6,500 yen including tax).
The seminar provided an opportunity to broaden the base of wine consumption by explaining cultivation and winemaking methods from a professional perspective and telling the story of the winemakers. It was a rare opportunity to taste award-winning wines with their producers, and the venue was almost fully booked.

[What is the Japan Wine Competition?]
The Japan Wine Competition is a competition for "Japanese wines" produced in Japan using 100% domestic grapes and has been held since 2003. This year is the 19th time it has been held. A wide variety of "Japanese wines" are produced throughout Japan, and their quality has been improving year by year, and they are highly appreciated by consumers.
A list of award-winning wines is provided to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan each time, and a total of over 70,000 award-winning wines have been served to world dignitaries at official events of diplomatic missions abroad. We hope that the results of this competition will drive the quality of Japanese wines and further promote recognition of their excellence and value both in Japan and abroad.
