Sarubobo" is a doll meaning "baby monkey" that has been handed down from generation to generation in the Hida Takayama region of Gifu Prefecture. It is a good-luck charm that brings happiness, such as good marriage and family happiness.

Today, sarubobo come in a variety of colors, but the orange sarubobo are said to bring good luck in feng shui (the art of feng shui) for fertility and easy childbirth.
