Background

Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, was severely damaged when the Kuma River overflowed due to torrential rains in July 2020. We decided to make a film based on the flood damage. After the flooding of the Kuma River, disasters of various sizes have occurred all over Japan, and natural disasters are no longer a matter of concern for others. Through this film, we would like to depict the people who are facing these disasters.

Outline of the Project

In addition to local native Takeo Nakahara, the film features a splendid cast including Misuna Shimizu, Yuta Watanabe, Ayana Shinozaki, Miko Miyazaki, and Mansaku Fuwa.

Kuma River has always whispered to me. It is a "whisper" that can never be heard unless one listens carefully. But that is why it is nothing more than a mournful cry from the river. This film depicts what the people of Hitoyoshi Kuma area, who are still suffering from the scars of flood damage, feel from the "whispers" emitted by the Kuma River, and how they can use them as the power of hope for tomorrow.
