Mejiro Fashion & Art College (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Principal: Akihiko Kojima), a fashion and beauty college, is a fashion school that pursues the fusion of fashion and beauty and releases its students' sense of style to the world.

The school, which celebrates its 85th anniversary this year, will hold the "85th anniversary Annual College Fashion Show 2024" at Spiral Hall (Spiral 3F) on Saturday, February 3, 2024, where students will present their collections on the runway in a professional show style. The show will be held at Spiral Hall (Spiral 3F).

Mf&ac Best Design Award

Mejiro Fashion & Art College has sent many graduates to the fashion and beauty industry, where they have grown to become the core of the industry.

In the 85th anniversary Annual College Fashion Show 2024, we will present student works that have been selected through a rigorous screening process by professionals.

Mejiro's philosophy "Real Clothes" - beautiful, easy-to-wear, realistic clothing.

The works are not only artistic, but are also made with the goal of creating realistic clothes with a sense of presence that can be used as products in actual business situations. Students are evaluated and pointed out in a series of critical sessions, and work on their creations step by step. Some of the pieces were created under the direct supervision of designers Junichi Hakamatsu and Motonari Ono, who are active in collections both in Japan and abroad.

In addition to the two designers mentioned above, the competition will be judged by a panel of top-class judges, including Atsushi Nakajima, who has been active in collections both in Japan and abroad, members of the fashion press including Senken Shimbun, and members of WGSN, a well-known trend forecasting company.

Introducing "Taïs," a traditional fabric from Timor-Leste

Taïs" is a traditional fabric that is worn as a traditional costume, and is also worn around the necks of guests as a sign of respect. Students in Mejiro, Tokyo, have arranged "Taïs" as a symbol of friendship between the two countries.

Uniform Design for Tokyo Metropolitan Shiba Commercial High School

Tokyo Metropolitan Shiba Commercial High School We were approached by Tokyo Metropolitan Shiba Commercial High School about a design competition for the renewal of their student uniforms to commemorate their 100th anniversary. They asked us to design a uniform that the younger generation would want to wear. Our students designed the student uniform and it was adopted. So now, the students of Tokyo Metropolitan Shiba Commercial High School will showcase their work in a fashion show.

■Aiming to become a new field knitter

Software for assembling knit patterns and an industrial flat knitting machine were introduced last year. Students were able to experience the actual machines and acquire practical skills, such as winning an offer of employment. We will showcase a number of works incorporating knit designs at this show as well.

■Two new courses associated with the Fashion Beauty Department (1 year)

In the spring of 2024, a newly established department, the Fashion Beauty Course (one-year course) will be offered, and in 2025, the Fashion Beauty Course (two-year course) (tentative name) and two beauty-related courses will be added. We will train models, make-up artists, manicurists, and beauty specialists.

Graduates with a wealth of creativity and expertise will continue to lead the industry. Toward the future we are aiming for, the school will continue to transform and evolve, providing an environment where students can hone their practical skills.
