BSI Global's first carbon neutral BSI Opinion Statement based on ISO 14068-1 issued to Yamato Transport
Recently, global warming, climate change, and other global-scale problems are becoming more serious due to the increase in emissions of greenhouse gases such as oxygen dioxide resulting from our economic activities.
For this reason, the international community has been holding the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 1995. At COP26, held in the United Kingdom in 2021, it was clearly stated that efforts should be made to limit the average temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by around 2030.
In response, countries are accelerating their efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions more than ever.
BSI Group has been involved in the development of ISO 14068-1:2023 as a standard that provides principles, requirements, and guidance for organizations and products to achieve and demonstrate carbon neutrality, and is developing its verification work globally. This ISO 14068 verification for Yamato Transport is the first case of its kind for BSI Global, and as a leader in carbon neutrality, the company has actively demonstrated its commitment to environmental impact reduction and sustainability.
In the future, activities to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and to work toward net-zero emissions will be an unavoidable theme for each organization to combat global warming, and actively promoting carbon footprint management and carbon neutrality demonstrations will be even more required to enhance corporate value.

Comment from Mr. Yutaka Nagao, President and Representative Director, Yamato Transport Co.
As a logistics company responsible for social infrastructure, the Yamato Group aims to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. The response to climate change mitigation is an urgent issue for society as a whole, and we are working to reduce our own GHG emissions from our business activities by introducing EVs and solar power generation equipment, with the aim of achieving virtually zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2050 and a 48% reduction by 2030 (compared to FY2020).
We are pleased to announce that we have achieved and maintained carbon neutrality in accordance with the international standard ISO 14068-1:2023 for our main products, TA-Q-BIN, TA-Q-BIN Compact, and EAZY, and will provide them as climate change-friendly transportation services. Going forward, we will accelerate our efforts to achieve each fiscal year and reduce GHG emissions in accordance with international standards, thereby contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.
