Atelier 8 Ltd. "Yosemono Design School|Yosemo STUDIO (Katsushika-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masaaki Takahashi; hereafter "Atelier 8"), which has been working with numerous brands for over 50 years and operates the original brand MASAAKi TAKAHASHi, has decided to pre-open as "Yosemono Design School|Yosemo STUDIO" on March 28 and 29, 2024 as a pre-opening for invited guests only.
Brazing operation
When one moves from accessory production in the realm of hobby to aiming for a higher hurdle, brazing and soldering welding techniques are necessary. The technique of making using these techniques is the traditional Japanese technique of "Yosemono. There are accessory classes that fall under handicrafts and full-scale jewelry classes, but this is the world's first* "Yosemono" class for making accessories (costume jewelry) as a craft.
According to our own research

What is "Yosemono"?
Yosemono" is a technique that involves assembling simple individual parts and claws (the base for holding crystals) and welding them together to create jewelry of various shapes and sizes through a process called brazing.
How brazing works
However, with the development of casting, a technology that allows mass production by pouring molten metal, the "Yosemono" technique has been declining.
Is this technology unnecessary? In 2013, MASAAKi TAKAHASHi's tiara "Tsuki" was selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Traditional Crafts Challenge Grand Prize. In 2014, her tiara "Flame of the Earth" participated in the World Jewelry Facets 2014 traveling exhibition organized by SAROVSKI.

From jewelry to interior design. From jewelry to interior design and stationery. To preserve the "Yosemono" technique!
Masaaki Takahashi, a jewelry artist with a background in architecture, is challenging new fields such as "interior jewelry" and "stationery jewelry" using the "Yosemono" technique, which was once used only for jewelry. The "Yosemono Design School" will not limit the genres of design, but will consider the transmission of techniques and new perspectives to ensure that "Yosemono" does not die out.
