Ukraine's Dnipro for children aged 10 to 12 years old. The Ukrainian Sumo Tournament 2024 was held on March 8, 2012 in Dnipro, Ukraine!

Usmyshka, a general incorporated association led by Hideto Chujo, who provides direct support to children throughout Ukraine, will hold the Ukrainian Wanpaku Sumo Tournament 2024 for children aged 10-12 on Friday, March 8, 2024, in Dnipro, a city in eastern Ukraine. This is the first time that a children's sumo tournament will be held in eastern Ukraine, close to a fierce battleground.

The winners of this tournament or three equivalent winners will represent Ukraine at the 39th National Wanpaku Sumo Tournament to be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.

The tournament will be held in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Government of Ukraine, the Sumo Federation of Ukraine, and the Tokyo Junior Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

It is expected to give hope to Ukrainian children suffering from the ravages of war and to further strengthen the relationship between Japan and Ukraine.

What is "Wanpaku Sumo"?

Wanpaku Sumo is one of the largest sumo tournaments for elementary school students, in which fourth- to sixth-grade students compete in preliminary tournaments in 200 regions in Japan (organized by Junior Chamber of Commerce), and the finals are held at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo for the national tournament. In recent years, participation from Mongolia and other foreign countries has been increasing.
