PR event for denim/jeans production area, Sambi production area! Denim product sales and workshops at Shinjuku Takashimaya starting March 27

Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, the birthplace of domestic jeans. Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture, and Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, the world's recognized production center of Japanese denim.

The Shinjuku Takashimaya Department Store and Kurashiki City will collaborate to hold the "SHINJUKU DENIM SCRAMBLE" event from Wednesday, March 27 to Tuesday, April 2, 2024, to promote denim products and manufacturing techniques of the "Sanbisanchi" denim and jeans production area that spans western Okayama Prefecture and eastern Hiroshima Prefecture. In addition to sales of denim products unique to the production area, on Saturdays and Sundays during the period, there will be hands-on denim workshops where visitors can experience world-class manufacturing technology, and talk shows by Yuji Motozawa, one of the leading jeans producers in the Japanese denim industry, and Shunsuke Shimada, a denim product manufacturer in Okayama Prefecture who is attracting attention for his vigorous efforts. The event will also feature a talk show by Mr. Yuji Honzawa, one of the most prominent jeans producers in Japan, and Mr. Shunsuke Shimada, a denim manufacturer in Okayama Prefecture who has been attracting attention.

People, things, and activities will intersect at Shinjuku Takashimaya with "denim" as the keyword, and through various experiences, we will bring you a week dyed in indigo blue.

POP UP SHOP (sales of denim products)

Brands centering on Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, the birthplace of domestic jeans, will exhibit their products. Jeans products upcycled through Takashimaya's "Denim Regeneration Project(*)" will also be on sale.

Denim Rebirth Project

A project to collect unwanted denim products at Takashimaya stores and sell jeans products created by upcycling. In this event, collaborative products with "RED CARD TOKYO" and "JOHNBULL" and products designed by current students of Bunka Fashion College Apparel Design Department will be exhibited and sold.

■ Hands-on Denim Workshop

Sewing machines, irons, and other equipment used in actual denim production will be set up at a special venue, where craftspeople will sew and process denim on the spot. In addition, artwork using leftover fabrics and other materials will be demonstrated and sold.

Dr. DENIM HONZAWA] Yuji Honzawa & [ITONAMI] Shunsuke Shimada Talk Show

Dr. Honzawa, one of the leading jeans producers in the Japanese denim industry, and Mr. Shimada, who has been making great strides in Okayama Prefecture by manufacturing denim products and operating accommodation facilities, will hold a talk show to discuss the appeal of denim and manufacturing in the Sanbi area.

Please bring your unwanted denim products to the venue during the event period. The collected denim will be used as materials for the "Denim Recycle Project" to upcycle denim and for hands-on denim workshops in the future.

We will collect denim products regardless of the store of purchase, the brand, or the number of items.

Please bring your laundry in good condition so that we can recycle it effectively.

Please bring your items in a washable condition so that they can be recycled effectively.
