Sock Knitting Machine x Bicycle "Charix" to Make Socks with the Power of Pedaling

S.Labo" (operated by Soki Co., Ltd.), a socks laboratory located in Hiroyocho, Nara Prefecture, will be joined by a new "Charix" machine that makes socks with the power of pedaling a bicycle in April 2024.

The first year 1,200 visitors and the second year 4,000 visitors have experienced the "Charix," which has been featured on TV and in many other media.

The "Charix" is a new addition to the Charix lineup!

In the first year after S.Labo opened, 1,200 visitors came to Hiroyocho, Nara, a town with a population of 35,000, to try the only one Charix. In April 2024, a third Charix will join the fleet.

We hope that 10,000, 100,000, 1,000,000, and many more people around the world will enjoy Charix.

In recent years, many tourists have come to visit us because they can easily experience the local industry of Hiroyo-machi, Nara Prefecture. About 80% of them are from outside of the prefecture. We hope you will visit us to enjoy the town of Chalix, which is attracting attention from both inside and outside of Japan, and the town of Hiroyocho. We recommend you to visit us during spring vacation, Golden Week, and summer vacation.

What is "Charix"?

SOUKI, which has been making socks for nearly 100 years in Hiroyo-machi, Nara Prefecture, was born in 2017 out of the desire to "get everyone excited through socks! Charix was born in 2017 from the desire of SOUKI, which has been making socks in Hiroyo-machi, Nara Prefecture for nearly 100 years. It is a very unique sock knitting machine, which has obtained a utility model patent, that combines a sock knitting machine (amiki) actually working in a factory and a bicycle, and can knit socks using the force of pedaling a bicycle. It has been featured in many TV programs and various media.

A pair of socks is ready after about 10 minutes of rowing on the Charix. Both adults and children can enjoy making socks. You can choose your favorite color from the many colorful yarns displayed on the wall to create your own original color socks. Limited colors and yarn types are available for special events such as Mother's Day and Father's Day. Charix Mother's Day and Father's Day Limited Event

Special Charix socks will be knitted with a special and unique yarn called "Slurit Yarn," which is not usually used for socks, as a "Mother's Day and Father's Day Limited Event.

◆Manufacturing workshops will be held one after another!

S.Labo is holding a series of workshops where you can enjoy making things in a casual manner. SOUKI TREE" is an objet d'art made from scraps of wood from the sock production process. SOUKI MONKEY" is a workshop to make a cute stuffed monkey out of socks. Darning" is a service that repairs socks with holes or frayed edges in a fashionable way. All workshops are ethical and use upcycled materials.

What is "S.Labo"?

S.Labo is a sock theme park with a Charix experience space, a store space featuring products from Nara's long-established sock factory SOUKI, and a workshop space where visitors can casually experience making socks. We are planning various projects to provide even more "excitement" to many people in the future, so please stay tuned.
