TAKUMI Collection (Representative: Keiko Enomoto), which produces and sells products that reproduce Kurume Kasuri, a traditional cotton fabric that has been handed down for 220 years in southern Fukuoka Prefecture, for modern lifestyles, will release a limited edition pattern of Monpe, a monpe for babies, on June 4, 2024, using a representative pattern [Hanabishi Koushi] of Nomura Orimono (Hirokawa-cho, Fukuoka Prefecture), which was established 126 years ago. (Hirokawa-cho, Fukuoka Prefecture), which has been in business for 126 years, and will go on sale on June 4, 2024. Prior to the release, the brand will be on sale at MOM & BABY SELECT on the 7th floor of Hakata Hankyu from May 29.

The story behind the birth of Monpei

Kurume Kasuri is a fabric that seems to breathe, and this is because it is a cotton fabric that is gently woven with as little stress on the thread fibers as possible.

In the beginning, our representative, Mr. Enomoto, was troubled by his son's rough skin and wanted him to use good quality clothing, so he made a monpe out of Kurume-gasuri.

As she used it, she realized something. I realized that when babies are comfortable and stress-free, mothers have more smiles on their faces.

This baby monpe was born from the interweaving of the thoughts of a craftsman and a mother, who have been maintaining a 220-year tradition and refining their skills.

The wife of the fourth generation readily agreed to make the monpe.

TAKUMI Collection wanted to create a product project using fabrics from various weavers, and thought it would be great if we could work with various weavers to create a limited edition pattern for the year 2024 for MOMPPE, which can be used from the baby stage. The pattern that caught our attention was Nomura Orimono's representative pattern, "Hanabishi Koushi". In fact, this pattern was so attached to Nomura Orimono that it was used as a signboard, and we had decided not to sell it to other companies.

However, the wife (Sayaka Nomura) of the fourth generation, who is of the same parenting generation as the representative of TAKUMI Collection, readily agreed "if it is Monpe," which led to the release of this product.
