What is Kurume Kasuri?
Kurume kasuri (kasuri) is a traditional handicraft designated by the national government and known as an important intangible cultural asset. It is generally considered expensive and precious, but in reality, it is a cotton fabric that has been familiar to the common people since ancient times and is deeply rooted in their daily lives. Its appeal lies in the fact that it is a functional material that is easy to care for yet comfortable to the touch, absorbs and releases moisture, and is still popular today for its beautiful dyeing and unique patterns.

New product: Kurume Kasuri stoles.
As the temperatures rise and the air becomes warmer and sweatier, more and more Kurume Kasuri fans are wearing Kurume Kasuri mompes. In this context, TAKUMI Collection, which plans and produces items that fit Kurume Kasuri to modern lifestyles and are familiar to the younger generation, has released a stole made using the "amaori" technique, which is rare in Kurume Kasuri, on April 30, 2024. The stoles are made using the "sweet weave" technique, which is rare in Kurume Kasuri.
Every step of the Kurume kasuri process requires expert skill, but when it comes to amaori (sweet weaving), matching patterns becomes even more difficult. However, we hope to express the unique grazed pattern that is one of the charms of Kurume kasuri.
Today, many people from all over the world are visiting Japan, partly due to the weak yen. We asked Nomura Orimono (Hirokawa-cho) to produce amaori fabrics with a difficult but intricate pattern woven into them, in the hope that these visitors will experience the Japanese technique and traditional beauty. Stoles are fashion items loved by women not only in Japan but also all over the world. It is difficult to bring a kimono back to your own country, but a stole can be brought back as an item for daily use. We hope that by wearing and using the stole, you will feel the Japanese culture in your own country.
The lightness of the stole is made possible by the sweet weave of the fabric.
