SANYO Co.,Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroyuki Horii; hereinafter referred to as "SANYO") won the Audience Award in the "PVC Award 2023" (sponsored by the PVC Award Executive Committee), a contest themed "PVC Products that Enrich People's Lives", for its entry "Chabring Chabudai that can be used as a float in an emergency" (winner: Shinya Suzuki, Sanyo Development Proposal Section) won the Audience Award by the highest number of votes from visitors to the exhibition.

What is "Chabring"?

Normally used as a chabudai in the living room, the Chabring can be turned upside down to function as a floating evacuation device in the event of a disaster. The legs of the chabudai function as a supporter to prevent accidents such as slipping and falling. When not in use, the chabudai can be stored in a small space by removing the air. The soft and gentle design was highly recognized by many, as the idea of not drawing a line between daily life and times of disaster is beginning to permeate the market.

About the "PVC Award 2023" Audience Award

The exhibition of entries for the "PVC Award 2023," an open contest that aims to discover products that contribute to society through the improvement of convenience in daily life, recycling, medical care and welfare, safety, disaster prevention, etc., by taking advantage of the features of PVC and adding functions, was held. This year, the Audience Award was newly established for the group of entries gathered under the theme of "PVC products that enrich people's lives. The award-winning works were selected through voting by visitors at the two venues in Tokyo and Nagoya.
