Shiomi Ryugusha
Shiomi Ryugu Shrine (located in Koto-ku, Tokyo), which enshrines the deity Ryujin, a shrine that prays for the happiness and good fortune of children, will hold a project to draw "sacred trees" with 100 children on the approach wall on June 21(*) and 29 and July 5 and 6, 2024, taking advantage of the shrine's characteristics.
Since the project is dedicated to the Dragon God living on Kakaroma Island, Amami Oshima, which is registered as a World Natural Heritage site, we welcome Chazu-san, who directed the documentary film "Living on an Island a Little Apart from My Husband (Director: Aya Kunitake)," which was shot during her immigration to Kakaroma Island, as the illustrator who will lead the project.
She will be painting pictures with vivid colors and a warm touch.
Only Chaz will participate on June 21.

Even though it is still in production, its presence is breathtaking!

~ The sacred tree is being made with the hope that children around the world will continue to be happy.
About the project to paint the sacred tree with 100 children
Shiomi Ryugu Shrine is connected to a canal and has an unusual structure, but it does not have an "sacred tree.
As a shrine that wishes for the happiness of children and good marriages, we wondered how we could bring joy to the children and their happiness to their parents, grandparents, local residents, and visitors to the shrine. We thought that by having children draw the sacred tree as they like, we could expand the circle of happiness.
Oyako "Mikami Tree
We plan to draw a parent-child "sacred tree" with the sacred tree drawn by Chaz-san as the parent and the children's tree as the children. Furthermore, the children will be asked to draw the leaves on the sacred tree that Chaz-san will draw.
The parental sacred tree will be represented as watching over the growth of the child by the child's side.
■The sacred tree drawn by the children will remain for decades to come.
The drawings will remain at the shrine along with memories.
Children will grow up and become adults someday, but the pictures they draw will remain for many years to come. We hope that in a few years or decades, when they themselves become adults, they will spend their time cherishing their own identity as majestically as the sacred tree.
■I want you to grow into a child with strong roots, imitating the roots of the tree.
It is the branch that supports the leaf. It is the trunk that supports the branches. It is the roots that support the trunk.
The roots are buried in the soil and cannot be seen, but they firmly support the tree.
We hope that the roots of the children will grow strong and nurture them so that they will bloom flowers that are unique to themselves.
