About Sanshoan Kimono Shop

Sanshoan" is a kimono shop specializing in obi (Japanese traditional sash), opening in June 2020. We mainly deal in original obi made from imported fabrics, vintage obi, and Kiryu-ori obi. We also started selling bags made of obi and symbiotic fabrics in 2024.

About our new original product, the "All-over Pattern Mon-ori Denim Kimono".

We have created an original kimono using the same yarn-dyed denim (jacquard denim) as Sanshoan's iconic obi. Since it is a single piece of denim, it can be worn for a long season by changing the way it is matched. It is wrinkle-resistant and can be ironed & washed at home.

Point 1: The fabric is the key to this item! Jacquard denim and floral patterns create a gorgeous and sharp design.

The "All-over patterned denim kimono" is made of all-over patterned Jacquard denim using Jacquard weaving.

The Jacquard weave used for kimono and obi is a denim with a floral pattern design similar to a komon. The floral pattern is made vertical and rather large, so that it is not too detailed and has a good margin. The textile has a balance between the denim-like feel and the fine weave of the jacquard pattern, giving it a gorgeous and sharp impression.

Because of the woven pattern, a glimpse of the pattern peeks out from the hem when worn. Also, since it is dyed in indigo, the same as orthodox denim, you can enjoy the slow fading of the color.

Point 2: Sanshoan's original dimensions are used! Sizing adapted to the modern age + comfort pursued

Men's model-1

The width of the denim fabric used this time was 154cm, so we adopted our original dimensions of "tight shoulder width and wide sleeve width" to take advantage of the length of the fabric.

Therefore, when worn, the silhouette is the same as a kimono, with a tight waist and wide sleeves. Compared to kimonos with general dimensions, this shape is less drab when worn by people who are slightly slender or have a normal body shape.

The use of 7 ounce denim material ensures a comfortable fit that is neither too thin nor too heavy.

The denim material used is a blend of cotton, polyester, and polyurethane, so it maintains water absorbency, is more wrinkle-resistant than 100% cotton, and has a slight lateral stretch.

Point 3: Can be ironed and washed at home!

You can wash the "All-over Pattern Monori Denim Kimono" at home. We aimed to make it as easy to handle as a piece of clothing so that you can wear the kimono on days other than special occasions.

We recommend soaking and washing. Please avoid using hot water or washing with other laundry as the colors may fade.

Generally, Indigo products are prone to color migration when worn in the rain or sweat and subjected to friction. After repeated washing, the color fading will settle down.

If you are concerned about the color transfer to a raw or light-colored obi or obiage, please place a cloth such as a tenugui (hand towel) between the obi or obiage to prevent the color from transferring.

About hemming

The kimono is tailored as a single garment and has no lining, so it can be hemmed like a pair of pants or a dress. If it is difficult to hem a kimono by yourself, you can bring it to a clothes repair shop or a repair shop.

The "full pattern denim kimono" is slightly longer under the collar in relation to the body length.

Can be used in combination with other items! A Gamaguchi-Bag made of the same fabric is also available.
