NANZAN BUSSAN CORP. (Location: Suginami-ku, Tokyo; President: Taiki Nakayama), a Japanese alcohol trading company specializing in Shochu and Sake, will launch its first original brand "SHOCHU REPUBLIC" on July 1, 2024 to promote the appeal and diversity of Japanese shochu to overseas markets.

SHOCHU REPUBLIC Brand Concept

Shochu is a Japanese traditional spirits yet, does not have the same recognition outside of Japan compared to Japanese whisky or sake. We have been delivering many attractive brands to the world with high quality, rare and craft-made products, mostly developed by distilleries in small quantities of various varieties but since shochu is still not well known in the world, it is necessary to build an easy-to-understand brand for beginners overseas rather than "famous sake for those in the know". Therefore, we started SHOCHU REPUBLIC with the overseas market in mind, hoping that it would be a brand that would become the first drink of choice for shochu beginners, especially people who have never had shochu before. In other words, it is a product that can be enjoyed as a gateway to shochu.

To introduce the world to shochu and the recognition it deserves, we have created a new shochu brand around the concept of “Your first encounter with shochu, soon to be a familiar spirits”. Through this new brand, we aim to introduce the world to the diversity of shochu and to the appeal of shochu. We will make “SHOCHU REPUBLIC”

Japanese craft barley shochu with a sweet,

 mild aroma like bananas and cotton candy that comes softly to the nose.

The mellowness of the malted barley flavor spreads lightly and smoothly. It has a moderate sharpness, and can be served on the rocks, with water, or with soda, whichever you like to drink it. You can also chill the bottle in the fridge to further enhance the lingering banana flavor. Recommend to drink during the meal.

It can be mixed with sweetened carbonated soda like tonic water, or slightly sweetened ginger ale to further enhance the character of Long Pepper while making it easier to drink. Fruity grape-like aroma, elegant sweetness, rum raisin-like aroma,and sour aftertaste.

This Japanese craft potato shochu is made from Beniharuka, one of the highest sugar content sweet potatoes. The sweetness is enhanced with a strong splash of soft water, about 7 parts shochu to 3 parts water. You can also chill the whole bottle in the fridge and drink it in a wine glass. When mixed with strong soda, it has a sweet aroma like a fanta grape or tropical fruit. It goes well with Italian dishes such as tomato pasta and dishes with mozzarella cheese.
