Postpartum Depression" for 1 in 10 mothers who have given birth
Japan has the world's highest birthrate and aging population. Child-rearing conditions are said to be getting tougher year by year, and one in ten mothers who have given birth actually suffer from "postpartum depression.
Postpartum mothers today face three major problems.
The physical problem of enduring the hurt and pain they have never experienced that continues after childbirth; the psychological problem of not being able to sleep because of pain, anxiety and fear about the future; and the support system problem that makes it easy to become a one-parent parent after leaving the hospital.
All of these problems come at once, and the mentality of "I don't have the confidence to raise a child. I may not be able to do it," and the number of postpartum mothers who become depressed or neurotic continues to increase.
Miyamoto's experience as a midwife led her to establish the company.
The kicker was the experience of Miyamoto, the president of our company.
Miyamoto worked as a midwife on the front lines of the medical field, where lives were at stake, and she developed her mental strength in this life-or-death situation. I also decided to study abroad in order to overcome my English language complex.
While studying and working at a local nursing school, one of my seniors, whom I admired, passed away due to postpartum depression. Feeling helpless, Miyamoto herself eventually became depressed and was stopped by a doctor, forcing her to semi-forcibly return to Japan.
After returning to Japan, she began working again as a midwife at a hospital and acquired international certifications in mental health and plantar reflex therapy to improve her skills as a midwife.
In the process, I came face to face with the reality that there are so many women in Japan who are unable to talk to others or give up on solving their problems due to their environment or human relationships.
I want to support more Japanese women to enjoy their lives in their own way!" I want to contribute to the empowerment of women, which is the goal of the SGDs and other organizations. She felt that medical institutions alone had limitations in providing post-discharge care, so she founded Uterus, Inc. as a freelance midwife. With a desire to provide women with the skills they need to live freely, she started activities to convey the three areas of mind, health, and business.
