Purpose and Outline of the Project
Fanreed has been working on a drone power grid inspection solution using the Japanese version of the satellite-based positioning system (GPS) "MICHIBIKI" in order to contribute to the use of drones in the power grid inspection method by the Electricity Generating Company of Vietnam (EVN). In FY2023, we were selected for the "FY2023 Demonstration Project Using MICHIBIKI" sponsored by the Cabinet Office, and conducted a demonstration experiment in Hanoi, Vietnam, in collaboration with MAJ, a Vietnamese domestic drone manufacturer, and established a method for accurately identifying power lines and identifying abnormalities in power lines with an accuracy of just over 1 meter. After the performance and technical verification, the objective of this feasibility study (FS) is to commercialize a drone power grid inspection solution using MICHIBIKI.
Electricity shortage problem in Vietnam and EVN's efforts
EVN is working on the use of drones for power grid inspection, and Fanreed and RIT aim to contribute to Vietnam's economic growth through this solution. EVN is working on the use of drones for power grid inspections.
Collaboration between Phan Reed and RIT
Based on the performance demonstration conducted by Fanreed in FY2023, RIT, which operates a business development and consulting business, will form an integrated team to conduct a feasibility study for commercialization as an initiative for FY2024. The team will conduct a feasibility study with a view to designing and commercializing services in Vietnam and other ASEAN countries.
