Summer Special Exhibition "Songs of Life: Junji Takasago Photography Exhibition Held at Kitakata City Museum of Art in Fukushima Prefecture from August 3

Kitakata City Museum of Art will hold a special summer exhibition, "Songs of Life: Photographs by Junji Takasago" from August 3 (Sat) to September 23 (Mon), 2024.
Junji Takasago (1962-) is a photographer from Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, who has visited countries all over the world and continues to photograph the entire globe, including oceans, rainbows, landscapes, and the night sky. Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the world's most prestigious nature photography award. This exhibition features more than 80 of Takasago's photographs of the delicate and beautiful expressions of the earth and the lovely creatures that live on it.
The earth is home to countless creatures. From microscopic organisms to gigantic creatures, each one of them is enjoying its own life, which keeps the earth alive and well. It is as if the earth is playing a tune full of harmony as everyone sings their own song. In this exhibition, a variety of creatures appear along with natural landscapes from around the world, showing their distinctive features. We hope that visitors will feel anew that "we humans share this beautiful earth with so many lovely and unique creatures.

Junji Takasago
Nature photographer. He has been photographing the earth itself, from the tropics to the polar regions. He has published more than 30 books, including his latest, "Hear the Voice of the Planet" (Krevis). He has held numerous photo exhibitions at the Japan Cultural Institute in Paris, France, the Salzburg Museum, and the museum "Eki" in KYOTO, etc. He has been widely communicating the importance of nature, the relationship between nature and humans, and the role of humans on the earth, etc. on TBS "Jounetsu Tairiku", NHK "SWITCH Interview", TV, radio, magazines, and other media and at lectures. He is also a Miyagi Kizuna Ambassador.
