The "Shinshu Ueda Matsutake & Wine Festival 2024," a gastronomy festival to be held in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture on Saturday, October 12, 2024, will feature many popular food and gourmet restaurants from Shinshu. Shinshu Ueda Matsutake & Wine Festival 2024

In Ueda City, one of the largest matsutake mushroom production areas in Japan and home to the Chikumagawa Wine Valley, one of Japan's leading wine regions, we want to create a "new Japanese food culture" to enjoy matsutake dishes and other Shinshu gourmet foods and wine and share it with everyone! This event was born from this desire.

Last year, the inaugural event attracted 3,500 visitors, who thoroughly enjoyed Shinshu's gourmet food and wine.

This year's venue was the Bessho Onsen "Aisome no Yu" lawn square, the oldest hot spring in Shinshu, located in the "Sacred Land of the Sun and Earth" connected by a ley line, a Japanese Heritage Site - Shinshu Ueda/Shiodaira, a town that lives with dragons.

Visitors can enjoy a menu that can only be found here, including dishes made with premium Shinshu beef, pork, chicken, cured ham, cheese, and other ingredients, as well as matsutake mushrooms.

This course follows the Japanese Heritage Site "Sacred Sites of the Sun and Earth" connected by the Ley Lines (lines of light illuminated by the morning sun) - Shiodaira, Ueda, Shinshu, a town that lives with dragons - from the starting point, Ikushima Ashishima Shrine, whose deity is the "land and earth," to the goal point, Bessho Hot Springs, which is said to be the oldest hot spring in Shinshu. Shiota-daira is known as one of the best matsutake mushroom production areas in Japan, and "matsutake mushroom huts" where visitors can enjoy matsutake mushroom course meals are open seasonally from September to November. Those who have already purchased a ticket (6,000 yen) in advance.

Participants must be able to walk a distance of about 10 km.

No nationality, age, gender, etc. are required to participate. Those who can follow the rules of the event, manners, and traffic rules. However, elementary school students and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and those with walking difficulties must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Infants (under 3 years old)/children under elementary school age may walk together, but no meals will be provided. (Not eligible for entry).
