The camp will be held at Razz Park Resort, a glamping facility in Itoshima City, from September 21 (Saturday) to 23 (Monday, national holiday).

The camp will provide career and money education at the same time by giving children "earning experience" on their own. The camp has been well received by parents and children since it was first held last year, as it helps children acquire the ability to think, act, and communicate through the process.

Background of the event

According to the "Future Talent Vision" data released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in May 2022, more than 90% of children under the age of 18 in other countries answered "I have a dream for the future," while only 60% of children in Japan did. While the average percentage of those who answered "I think I can change my country and society" was over 50% in other countries, it was 18% in Japan. While the average percentage of respondents in other countries is over 70% for "I have a social issue I want to solve in my country," Japan's percentage is 46%. The data also suggests that this result may be due to Japan's lack of exploratory, no-correct-answer learning.

One of the solutions is to provide children with the experience of turning the economy around on their own, so that they can "think," "act," and "verbalize their likes and challenges.

Event Details

At this camp, children are given virtual currency, which they use to purchase food, fishing equipment, play equipment, and other items from the "market" set up at the campsite and turn them into products, which they sell to adults for profit. They are also obligated to pay taxes on their earnings. There are many ways to earn money: some children become cooks, some do real estate business, some open nail salons, some host karate dojos, etc. Some children become grumpy with frustration when they do not earn as much money as they would like. If you don't make a profit, you can't rent lodging or eat. Adults are not allowed to interfere at all! By being thrown into such an environment, they begin to think about "what work is" and "what money is" from early on, and their spirit of challenge becomes high, saying "I want to do this next time! and their spirit of challenge will be high. In addition, on the morning of the third day of the camp, the children will have time to reflect on what they like and are good at, and how they can relate to society, thereby raising their awareness of their role in society.
