Green Style Co. (Location: Ina City, Nagano Prefecture; Representative: Yuki Sato), a wine grape school, has started a crowdfunding project "Wine making starts with grape growing and wine grape school aims for the world" on CAMPFIRE to obtain Japan's first* international patent for its "wine grape growing method". The project will be launched on CAMPFIRE in September 2024. This project will run until September 30, 2024. According to our own research.

■Background of Crowdfunding
We have applied for a domestic patent in December 2023 for our grape preparation method. In order to expand the Japanese cultivation method to the world, we plan to apply for an international patent as a grape cultivation method in the U.S. and the U.K. around the end of September 2024.
The application cost is nearly 2 million yen per country. Therefore, we have decided to conduct a crowdfunding campaign to solicit support to be used for part of the application costs.
We recognize that Japan has the world's best fruit cultivation technology. Japan also has the world's best fruit quality.
We are implementing this project with the hope of developing Japan's unique cultivation technology for wine grape cultivation overseas and proving Japan's cultivation technology to the rest of the world.
By using Japanese cultivation techniques to spread and implement Japanese-style early harvesting and quality-oriented preparation methods in areas with strong intellectual property rights, such as the United Kingdom (which has become a good grape-producing country due to global warming) and the East Coast of the United States (where weather conditions are similar to those in Japan), Japanese cultivation techniques will be adopted for wine grapes, and new methods of preparation will be promoted. We would like to promote the adoption of Japanese cultivation techniques for wine grapes by spreading and implementing Japanese-style early harvesting and quality-oriented grape preparation methods in areas where intellectual property rights are strong.
Our "Viticulture Method" Patent Features
Aiming for a patent that can only be obtained by a wine school
The "Viticulture Method" patent was invented with the cooperation of students at our "Wine Grape School," based on data from a total of 10 locations: 4 in Fukushima Prefecture, 3 in Nagano Prefecture, 2 in Tokyo, and 1 in Kobe. The data we were able to accumulate and discover for 100 students led us to this project. This invention was made possible because the School of Wine and Grape cultivates grapes in a way that values individuality rather than uniformity.
*The wine grape school's concept of grower-friendly cultivation methods
Recent global warming has resulted in grapes with low coloration and acidity. This causes the grapes to be replanted with different varieties. But is it right to abandon vines with a long history?
The wine grape school is attempting to restore vigor to the vines to see if cultivation techniques can't cover this. The reason is that strong vines are less prone to acid loss.
Secondly, the school's viticultural instruction also attempts to pick good grapes with only one or two operations per month. We try to get the maximum effect in the minimum amount of time. The working time is less than half of the usual time.

We will provide "Wine Grape School" wine and other wines. Our school's wine is basically distributed only to school officials and not to the general public.

*Midori is a hard type cider made by secondary fermentation in the bottle, blending three types of apples: Benitama, Shinano Sweet, and Granny Smith. Ao is a cider with a different flavor from Midori, blending two types of apples, Fuji and Granny Smith.
The wine grape branch for appreciation allows you to enjoy the growth process of the grapes for up to four months from the time it is placed in the vase until the leaves move, the flowers bloom, and the berries are harvested.
