Cosmetics and Food Ingredients Born from the Fusion of Nature's Bounty and Japanese Technology Started production of "Horse Placenta" from Mongolia
株式会社ルーナス
Lunus Corporation (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Taro Mikasa) has recovered placentas from horses grazing naturally in Mongolia and started manufacturing equine placenta at its factory in Mongolia in August 2024. At the local factory, new production lines for liquid and powder raw materials for cosmetics and food products have been installed. In the future, we will not only supply raw materials to the Japanese market, but also expand our sales channels with a view to exporting raw materials to the rest of the world.
Background
In Mongolia, more than 3.94 million horses are grazed naturally by nomadic pastoralists, and the number of horses alone is about 51 times that of Japan. However, not all regions in Mongolia, which is four times the size of Japan, have the infrastructure for electricity, and there was no system to collect raw placentas without compromising quality, so they could not be utilized. The country has not been able to utilize the raw placentas because there was no system to collect them without compromising quality.
■ Contents
(1) Establishment of a raw placenta collection network
Lunas Co., Ltd. has established a unique network of more than 200 nomads in cooperation with local companies, and has made it possible to collect raw placentas in a stable manner without compromising quality by providing freezing facilities using solar panels to partner nomads, even in areas without electricity. We have already succeeded in securing a stable supply of 30 tons of raw placentas per year.
(2) Local factory operation
In order to process abundant and high-quality raw placenta in Mongolia, we have established a placenta factory with the latest Japanese technology. The plant not only extracts equine placenta extract, but has also introduced facilities for processing freeze-dried powder, enabling the production of large quantities of placenta raw materials at low prices.
Future Development
We are not satisfied with our current manufacturing technology, but will continue our efforts to innovate the world's highest quality horse placenta manufacturing technology by utilizing new deodorant technology for which we are currently preparing to apply for a patent. In addition, we are already in discussions with European and Southeast Asian countries in order to export the raw materials of equine placenta to the world, not only to Japan.
