岡谷蚕糸博物館
Okaya Silk Museum (Okaya City, Nagano Prefecture) will hold a silk-themed "Yumi Katsura Talk & Fashion Show" on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, with free admission, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the museum's opening and the 10th anniversary of its reopening.
Event Summary
Yumi Katsura said before her death, "There is no better material than silk," and she had a deep affection for Okaya, the largest producer of raw silk in Japan. At this event, Yumi Katsura's creative team, led by Ayako Fujiwara and Yukinori Morinaga, will continue Katsura's passion for silk and introduce its charm through a talk and fashion show. The talk and fashion show will introduce Yumi Katsura's world-famous dresses and the beauty of silk, while reflecting on Katsura's achievements and his connection to Okaya.
Special Event
As a special experiment, a stage performance by local high school students will be held at the same time. The dresses designed by students of Suwa Jitsugyo High School's clothing department and made with Okaya silk will be on stage. Another highlight of the event will be the challenge of a Yumikatsura model as a fitter.
