■About the public video

EVO-LAB, a beauty and lifestyle company, opened Ts, coffee dao, a Thai coffee café, in a space adjacent to a beauty salon in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture in June this year.

Ts, coffee dao is committed to supporting artists. As part of this effort, we work with creators to plan and sell original products.

Recently, "Cyber Muse," a painting by contemporary artist Saori Kashiwamura, whom Ts, coffee dao supports, won the runner-up prize in the "NY Open Call Spring 2024" organized by the Art Incubation Association of Japan. Subsequently, the exhibition, "Japan Contemporaries Series 8, Juried Open Call, Stepping Into A World III," was held at the Tenri Cultural Institute gallery in New York from July 16 to 22, 2024. III" was held at the Tenri Cultural Institute in New York, where the award-winning work was exhibited.

In addition, a performance was presented at a reception held on July 19, 2024.

For his performance debut abroad, he collaborated in performance with world-renowned artist Rainer Goenal, who is active in New York and represented Austria at the Venice Biennale in 1999. The performance was well received and a feature article was published in a local art magazine.

Footage of the above and the performance will be shown as a short documentary.

The film was shot, directed, and edited by Jake Price, a New York-based photojournalist who teaches at Columbia University, and is titled "Saori Kashimura, Cyber Muse: Dancing in the Clouds.

About the award-winning works

Cyber Muse

The theme of this work is a goddess of the near future. In the future, humans will coexist with androids and cyborgs. What kind of life will humans lead there, and what will they dream about? Standards of beauty will change, and the symbols of the gods must also change. I painted this work while thinking about the flow of time in which the way we live in the present will eventually become history and myth. Despite the cyber worldview, the technique used is watercolor. This is my attempt to evoke in the viewer a somewhat nostalgic and contradictory image that is unique to hand-painting, and to explore a unique retro-futurism aesthetic.

■About the Performance

Through the casting curation of NY-based art curator Kyoko Sato, who curated the exhibition, we had the opportunity to collaborate in performance with world-renowned NY-based artist Rainer Genar.

Rainer participated in "Dance for Cyber Muse," in which Saori Kashiwamura expresses the world of her paintings through dance, using physical expression.

The music used is a futuristic original track produced by TEGAMI (KENTARO), a priest and jewelry designer.
