Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc. (MBS) will hold "Yume no Sankyokuen 2024 - Sanpai Hanga, Dai Hanga, Kin Hanga" at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (Shibuya Public Hall) in Tokyo on Thursday, December 19, 2024, and at Sky Theater MBS in Osaka on Wednesday, December 25.

The three leading figures of the Kamigata rakugo world, Bunchin Katsura, Nanko Katsura, and Tsurube Shofukutei, will perform their best Rakugo to close out the year in this annual rakugo show.

The show has been a hit not only with rakugo fans, but also with those who have little experience with rakugo, and continues to be a very popular performance that sells out on the day of the performance.

The "Dream Trio" began in Osaka in 2004. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Osaka performance (the 2020 performance will be canceled due to the Corona disaster; the 20th performance will be held).

In 2015, the 10th anniversary of the Osaka show, the Tokyo show began, and in 2019 the venue was moved to LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (Shibuya Public Hall with a capacity of 1956 people). Last year (2023), the Tokyo show was held for the first time in four years due to the Corona disaster, but tickets were still sold out immediately.

On December 20, Tsurubei performed "Shibahama," Nanko performed "Amateur Joruri," and Bunchin performed "Rakugo Anniversary," and the show ended with great success.

One of the main features of these performances is that the three performers are the "Kaiguchi Ichiban," or "opening act," and the three performers are hot prospects who are expected to lead the next generation of Kamigata Rakugo. This year's "Kaiguchi Ichiban" is Shofukutei Bebei, the 13th disciple of Tsurube. He is a passionate and sincere rakugo performer, and there is no other rakugo performer with such a distinguished career as Bebe.

This year's Tokyo performance will feature Bunchin, Tsurubei, and Nanko, in that order. The oddities in the order of their appearances are one of the highlights of the show, as the heavy hitters sometimes play with each other and play off each other.

From the opening remarks to the standing ovation at the end of the performance, "Yume no Sankyokuen 2024: Sanpai-banjyo, Dai-banjyo, Kin-banjyo" will be held at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (Shibuya Public Hall) in Tokyo on December 19 (Thu) and at Sky Theater MBS in Osaka on December 25 (Wed). Sky Theater MBS in Osaka, both starting at 18:00.
