The DAIDOGEI (which means "street performance" in Japanese) World Cup Executive Committee will hold the "DAIDOGEI World Cup in Shizuoka 2024" from November 1 (Fri.) to November 4 (Mon.), 2024 at various venues in Shizuoka City.
This festival where outstanding artists from Japan and abroad perform on street corners and in parks.
The festival has been held since 1992 and is run annually by a large volunteer staff. Last year, an estimated 1.18 million people enjoyed the outstanding performances during the four days of the festival.
This year's festival is expected to be even more exciting than last year's due to the "R&O Rehab Hospital Group Presents Premium Stage" that will use the Civic Cultural Center Main Hall, as well as an increase in the number of acting points and artist groups.

Features and highlights of this year's event
<ON Division> (Guidebook P.10-16)
On-stage performances by 36 groups, including 5 overseas artists such as "Compania Joca" (Germany), a unique and lovable character, and "Compagnia Bellavita," a comedy juggling show from Italy.
Performances will be held at 16 points in Sumpu Castle Park, in the city center, and at satellite sites.
<Walking Street> (Guidebook P.26-28)
Walking Street is where artists suddenly start performing without choosing a location.
Enjoy unpredictable encounters and sudden happenings.
This year, "Empress Stiltdance," an stilt performance from Australia, and "More Than a Mime Theater," which stops moving like a statue, will appear.

The final stage on November 4 will be held from 17:30 to 20:00.
A premium stage where you can enjoy acrobatic feats of strength, stylish juggling, humorous shows, magic and circus street performances. Paintings by people with disabilities will be exhibited in the lobby on the first floor of the venue.
In addition, all seats on the second floor will be open to welfare-related groups for free admission.

<SHOW Store Parade>
November 2 (Sat.) 11:30-12:00 Start from in front of PARCO
The parade will be held using the city center Koyamachi - Gofukucho Dori and Shichikencho Dori.
The shopping streets will be divided into 4 zones, each with its own unique characteristics to create scenery.
The goal is the ARTIE. All parade participants will gather and all perform with live music.
All the artists appear to be the main performers, but in fact the main performers are the stores, the shopkeepers, and the people of the town.
(1) At the Koyamachi, the guiding artists perform in front of "toy shops," "stationery stores," "fish cake shops," "fruit shops," and other stores. They will then parade to ARTIE.
(2) Kureroku Meitengai "Stilt de Balcony"
The gospel choir JoyChoir will sing enthusiastically on the second floor balcony of the shopping street.
Songs fall from the balcony and stilts dance and walk through the beautiful scenery amidst the singing.
(3) Gofukucho A (in front of Aoba) "Statue x Store Collaboration"
Statues of images linked to stores will be done at the stores. Holding things from the stores, etc.
(4) Gofukucho B (in the back of Aoba) "Juggling x Store Collaboration
Starts at 11:45 a.m. Juggling with store objects.
(5) Shichikencho "From in front of ARTIE to Fudanotsuji".
Stilts (Ashinaga performers) will perform while heading to Fudanotsuji.
(6) ARTIE "Circle Show" starting at 11:50 a.m.

<Diabolo experience at Shizugas Point> (Guidebook p.31)
The "Shizuoka Street Performing Arts Community" or "Shimarukai" for short is an organization of street performers who perform street performances in downtown Shizuoka on weekends and holidays. At "Shizugasu Point," which is operated by the Shimarukai, local amateurs such as Shizuoka-based artists and the Gozon Rokusu juggling club from Shizuoka Prefectural University will also perform their skills.
There will also be diabolo and pantomime experiences for children.
<Surugaya Presents: Street Performance Stamp Rally> (Guidebook, p. 32)
This is a stamp rally that visits five street performance points of the Street Performance World Cup.
Using the "Streets" application, visitors can scan the 2D codes placed at the five performance points and participate in the stamp rally. The prizes will be Surugaya gift certificates, T-shirts, and other original street performance goods.

<Crowd Funding>
Following last year's event, we are continuing our crowdfunding activities in cooperation with the Shizuoka MIRUI Project.
The goal is to develop new content and sustain the event on a stable basis. 1 million yen has been set as the target amount and supporters are being sought until the deadline of October 9.
There are a variety of items on offer, including return merchandise provided by the artists and the right to participate in workshops.
This year, 10 students from Shizuoka College of Design are participating in publicity activities for the crowdfunding campaign, such as using SNS and making flyers.
<Expansion of social projects beyond the festival framework and SDGs Declaration>
The Daidogei World Cup in Shizuoka is planned and operated by citizen volunteers. The approximately 600 volunteer staff members from within and outside of the prefecture not only operate the performance spots, but also engage in activities that go beyond the festival framework to produce social results, such as revitalizing the city, creating the next generation, and caring for the environment.
This year, the 31st anniversary of the festival, we made an SDGs declaration to the City of Shizuoka in order to make the festival earth-friendly, society-friendly, and community-friendly. We hope to become carbon neutral in the future, conduct social contribution activities through street performances, and operate the festival in a way that realizes local economic circulation.
(1) Angel Wings Project (Guidebook p.34)
This is a social project to raise awareness of good manners and environmental issues through cleaning up venues and separating trash.
(2) Poster Design Production Internship Project (Guidebook, p. 34)
Students at Shizuoka College of Design learn about festival planning and conception as part of their classes, and create poster designs in their third year. This year, the A2 size poster design: by Miku Hagiwara. Three artists' works were selected for the festival: Souta Kobayashi for the guidebook cover, and Soichiro Serizawa for the Shizuoka Station poster.
(3) Citizen's Crown (Guidebook, p. 35)
The Citizen's Clown Training Program, "Daidogei College," has been in operation since 1993. More than 500 citizen clowns have been born so far. This year, 18 citizen clowns were born after three days of training.
In addition to this festival, citizen clowns are active in various events as part of Shizuoka City's city promotion.
(4) Kids' Garden (Guidebook p.35)
This is a space to satisfy the curiosity of children who have been captivated by the power and fun of the performance and want to try it out. Point makeup service on the back of the face and hands will also be available.
There will also be exhibits by the Prefectural Midwives Association and Shizuoka City Children's Creative Town Ma-aru.
(5) Project to bring the joy of street performance to many people (Guidebook, p. 35)
The Daidogei World Cup Executive Committee is working to create a competition where everyone can enjoy performances without discrimination.
This year, in collaboration with the NPO Art Connect Shizuoka and the Shizuoka Prefecture Support Center for Cultural and Artistic Activities of Persons with Disabilities "Mirato," we will exhibit paintings by people with disabilities and invite welfare-related groups to the R&O Rehabilitation Hospital Group Presents Premium Stage at the City Cultural Hall for free. The activities include the exhibition of paintings by people with disabilities. Many companies and organizations support this activity.
(6) Normalization Information, Lost and Found, and First Aid Booth (Guidebook, p. 3)
In the spirit of the Volunteer Charter "All for you, it's my pleasure! (What I can do for you, it's my pleasure!), we have prepared a variety of services for the enjoyment of all.
Their hospitality, such as providing wheelchairs and escorts for the physically challenged, has been well received by both customers and artists.
(7) Original Goods Donation (Guidebook p. 4)
This year, for the first time since 2019, merchandise such as Red Nose Boom Boom, Happy Red Nose, and T-shirts will be available for sale.
As a donation, we will accept donations for convention operating expenses and distribute can badges as a thank you.
