Genkudo, a fox mask shop in Kagoshima, will hold the "Fox Bride Procession - Oh Fox Halloween 2024" as a Halloween event where visitors can enjoy wearing the masks they have created, on the night of October 26 (Sat) and 27 (Sun), parading down the Temmonkan Street located in the downtown area of Kagoshima City. The bride procession is free of charge.

What is "Genkudo"?

It is a fox mask shop operating mainly in Kagoshima City. We are a duo consisting of a representative called "shopkeeper," a woman who is a fox mask artist, and a part-time male who wears a pair of geta called "male foxes.

The masks that everyone wears on their faces in this marriage procession event were also created and painted by the store owner using 3D modeling and other methods, focusing on the shape so that they can be worn even when wearing glasses without obstructing the view.

The Shimazu family, the feudal lord of the Satsuma clan, has been a believer in Inari for generations, and Kagoshima has a lot of old culture, such as fox lore and traditional events. In response to the desire for a traditional event that people could casually participate in, and the desire for an opportunity to purchase masks and go out dressed in them, we have been holding the "Fox Bride Procession Event" every year since 2017, the year we started Genso-do. This is why we have held the "Fox Bride Procession Event" every year since 2017, when we started GENKUIDO.
