Japan Lifeline Co., Ltd.
Japan Lifeline Co., Ltd. (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Keisuke Suzuki) announces that its "Intracardiac Defibrillation Multi-Catheter/BeeAT with Inner Lumen," used in catheter ablation therapy for atrial fibrillation, has won the Good Design Award for 2024 (sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion). BeeAT with inner Lumen was highly evaluated for its unique lumen structure, which allows it to be used with a variety of devices despite its small diameter, and for its contribution to improving the safety of arrhythmia treatment.
We will continue to strive for further enhancement of our corporate value by promoting the development and manufacture of medical devices that are valuable to patients and other medical professionals.
Product name
Intracardiac cardioverter-defibrillator multi-catheter / BeeAT with inner Lumen
Product Overview
This product is used in catheter ablation therapy for atrial fibrillation. Defibrillation is performed by delivering an electric shock to atrial fibrillation. Most cases of atrial fibrillation can be cured with specific site treatment, but there are some exceptions. This product has a lumen structure to expand treatment options in exceptional cases.
Evaluation comments by the Good Design Award jury
This product has a 1mm-diameter through-lumen in a 2mm-diameter catheter, which allows the use of guidewires, thin electrode catheters, contrast media, etc. together. To avoid insulation breakdown between different electrode groups, the lumens are separated for each electrode group, and the lumens are not circular but have a special shape similar to an ellipse to achieve both a through-lumen structure and high insulation in a limited space. The award was given in recognition of the excellent design, which realized arrhythmia treatment using electric current with ease of use, versatility, and safety.
