EASE (Location: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo), a photography studio, prop rental, and space display company, will hold the 6th Ethical Christmas Market "Meguro Street Corner Heart & Art Christmas" from December 6 (Fri.) to 8 (Sun.), 2024, at Meguro STUDIO EASE in Tokyo to further activate the Meguro Station area and enhance the image of the area. ■Project Beginnings and Thoughts

In 2019, "Can we do something for the community?" EASE, a company located near Meguro Station, asked local residents what they could do for the community, and the project was launched. What is lacking in the community? What can we do? What is the message we want to convey? After exchanging various opinions, we decided to hold a Christmas market based on the concept of "ethical," which is a way of thinking and acting that takes into consideration people, society, the global environment, and the community. This year, we will continue to deliver the importance of "ethical consumption" that is not only sparkling and looking good.

Outline of the Project

The "Meguro Street Scene Heart & Art Christmas" will be held in the open space of STUDIO EASE, a photography space located 3 minutes from JR Meguro Station that recreates the streets of a foreign country, creating a memorable Christmas with heartwarming candlelight and displays.

Enjoy taking photos with Santa Claus and delicious food, listening to live music and encountering wonderful sundries....

This time, we will hold a workshop of modern-style kintsugi (metal-joining) for you to take home with you on the day.

◎"Who is eating microplastics?" / "Tara Poster Contest 2024 Works Exhibition" Touring Exhibition

Some of the works selected from two art exhibitions held in Tokyo this summer will be on special display at the Meguro Street Corner Heart & Art Christmas.

Organized by the apparel brand agnes b., "Who's Eating Microplastics?" will visualize the existence of plastic waste and discuss the problem of marine plastic.

The "Tara Issue Poster Contest 2024" will showcase the winning entries of a painting contest jointly organized by Agnès BAY Japan and Tara Océan Japan. Through children's drawings on the theme of "what we can do to improve the oceans and the global environment," the exhibition conveys the importance of ocean issues and the oceans.

Tara Océan Japan is the Japanese branch of the Tara Océan Foundation, a French public interest incorporated foundation specializing in the oceans launched by Agnès BAY in 2003, which promotes the importance of ocean conservation through the power of science x art x education. The Tara Océan Foundation is also conducting a survey of microplastics in Japan's coastal areas from 2020 to 2023, and some of Tara Océan Japan's activities will be introduced at this exhibition.

We hope that visitors will learn about the problem of microplastics from various angles and be inspired to reconsider the use of single-use plastics in their daily lives.

In fact, there is one major theme that has not changed since the first "Meguro Street Corner Heart & Art Christmas" held five years ago.

That theme is "Thinking of you.

Even though everyone may have a different person in mind, we hope to make this event an event where everyone can feel a little warmth.

As one of our "Thinking of You" efforts, we have launched a donation project from 2022.

This year, we plan to donate a portion of the proceeds to Noto Peninsula Earthquake Reconstruction Support Group, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and animal welfare organizations.

Donation boxes will be set up at the venue, so if you would like to help, we would appreciate it very much.

Yellow Post, Red Post

Did you know that there are yellow and red mailboxes at the "Meguro Street Corner Heart & Art Christmas" event?

The yellow postbox is the one where postcards will be delivered one year later.

The "red postbox" is a postbox where you can receive postcards as usual.

In this convenient age of instant communication through social networking services and cell phones, it is sometimes nice to receive a postcard slowly over a long period of time.

A letter corner and postcards are set up in the exhibition hall.

The event will be held on the day when the town is preparing for Christmas. At the venue, attractive goods will be on sale, and visitors will be able to enjoy ethical consumption while learning about the creators' persistence and the background of their craftsmanship.

In consideration of the environment, we ask visitors to bring their own bags and cutlery.

With the cooperation of all visitors, we try to operate the event in a way that generates as little waste as possible.

Christmas Caroling Concert

We will reenact Christmas caroling, a long-established Christmas tradition in the United States. Singer Josh Campbell, who is active in the U.S. and around the world, will select Christmas songs familiar to Japanese people to enliven the event.

While shopping at the Marche, stop to listen to Mr. Campbell's voice and enjoy a moment of Christmas.
