BEER&BOOK Nekomori, a store for enjoying domestic craft beer and secondhand books, will open at 14:00 on Friday, November 29, 2024, just a minute's walk from the west ticket gate of Hibarigaoka Hanayashiki Station on the Hankyu Takarazuka Line.

Offering a selection of domestic craft beers on draft from breweries the owner has visited, including IPAs, stouts, pilsners, and beers made with rice and fruits.

One beer (1 tap) always contains nitrogen gas and is characterized by its fine, creamy foam. When the beer containing nitrogen gas is poured into a glass, a cascade show of bubbles and liquid unfolds in the glass, providing an enjoyable experience for the eyes as well as the taste buds.

Craft beer is often served in sizes that are unfamiliar in Japan, such as "ounce" and "pint," but we serve it in 350ml and 500ml sizes, which are the same as commercial beverages. 

BOOKS

The books collected by the owner are lined up, and you can enjoy the pairing of beer and books only at this restaurant. If you like the book you pick up, you can also purchase it.

A portion of the bookshelves will be provided to "Aozora Used Bookstore" in the same city, and all proceeds from purchases made at the store will be given to "NPO Hyogo Niji-no-Kai," a non-profit organization that operates the Aozora Used Bookstore. Through used books, we will build connections with local residents and contribute to the creation of a vibrant community.

Menu

The menu will include dishes stewed with beer, pickles, and other beer-based dishes, as well as open sandwiches made with bread from the neighboring "Bakery shu". Non-alcoholic beverages will be available for those who cannot drink alcohol.

BEER&BOOK Nekomori Opening Background

It all started in 2023 when I attended a business start-up seminar hosted by the Takarazuka City Chamber of Commerce and Industry. However, my motive for signing up for the seminar was that "now that life is said to last 100 years, it might be useful someday to know about founding a business," and I had zero intention of opening a store.

As I proceeded with my studies, I thought to myself, "If I were to start my own business, what would I want to do?

　A store that sells my favorite craft beer and used books.

　A place where I could enjoy craft beer from noon.

　A retail space where people can enjoy craft beer at home.

　Collaboration with stores in Takarazuka City

The ideas for these shops kept coming to mind, and the company's application for a Takarazuka City subsidy to support the challenge of improving the attractiveness of stores and other facilities was accepted. We are determined to make this a store that will help revitalize Takarazuka City.

Future Prospects

Acquire a general liquor retailer's license and start retail sales of craft beer (canned and bottled). *Application is pending with the Nishinomiya Tax Office.

・Produce original beer using dahlias and blueberries produced in Takarazuka.

Holding workshops on craft beer, such as craft beer pairings.
