Shachu, a sole proprietorship based in Nakadomari-cho, Kitatsugaru-gun, Aomori Prefecture, that develops new local products and collaborates with other companies to develop new products, has launched the "Osamu Dazai High School Art Series," a series of printed works of art that Osamu Dazai drew during his student days, with the approval of the Hirosaki University Library, where it is held, and the descendants of the original family. Development Background

Nakadomari-cho, Kitatsugaru-gun, Aomori Prefecture, is a town adjacent to Dazai Osamu's birthplace and the home of Koshino Takeshi, whom Dazai Osamu considered his "spiritual mother," and has a deep relationship with Dazai Osamu.

Although Osamu Dazai is known throughout Japan as a writer with a negative image, it is not well known that he was actually a mischievous and fun-loving person, and that he aspired to be a painter as well as a writer.

Therefore, we have created this series in order to introduce Osamu Dazai not only from a literary perspective but also from an artistic perspective to a wider audience.

Most of Osamu Dazai's fans are those who fell in love with him from a literary standpoint. However, he also aspired to be a painter and painted several works during his lifetime, and his talent dates back to his junior high school days. As a high school student, he was also an "illustrator," to use a modern term, as he illustrated the covers of coterie magazines.

This work was drawn before Osamu Tezuka, known as the god of manga, was born, making it a very valuable piece of art. We created this work with the hope that this aspect of Dazai would attract new fans and lead to tourism to Aomori.

We will continue to create products that answer the wishes of our customers.
