We are now accepting crowdfunding challenge until January 31, 2025 to make a book version of the documentary film "Yokosuka1953", which won the Grand Prix in the feature film category at the Tokyo Documentary Film Festival and has been released nationwide since 2022.

Story "Yokosuka1953

Yoko Kigawa was born in Yokosuka in 1947 to a foreign father and a Japanese mother during the chaotic postwar period. In the harsh environment and social conditions of the time, she was separated from her beloved mother and moved to the U.S. for adoption at the age of five. Sixty-six years have passed since then. She never returned to Japan or heard from her mother. This film began when she sent a message to Tsuyoshi Kigawa, who shares the same last name but is not a relative, asking if he knew her mother's name, "Nobuko Kigawa. Yoko's journey toward memories in her memory began.

The film then depicted a miraculous encounter. The story has been viewed 5.3 million times on the YouTube site of the TV station that covered the story and the miraculous experience! Anbiribabo, and became a major topic of conversation. In 2025, the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, the director, Takeshi Kigawa, aims to publish the story as a book, including the background of this story and other family stories he has researched.

■What we want to emphasize

Next year, 2025, will be 80 years after the war, and at the same time, it will be 100 years since the Showa period if we count in the Showa era. As these years pass, fewer and fewer generations know about the difficult postwar period. On the other hand, people are finally beginning to hear about the taboos of the postwar period, which until now had rarely been talked about.

It is because it has been 80 years since the end of the war that we are able to depict the chaotic postwar period. We would like to ask for your cooperation in preserving a book that portrays this period.
