LAC Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Itsuro Nishimoto; hereafter "LAC") has developed its own card game "Riterakko" for learning information literacy, and began accepting applications for participation in a hands-on course for elementary and junior high school students using this game on December 17, 2024.
LAC's ICT Usage Environment Awareness Support Office conducts more than 200 information moral literacy courses per year free of charge. Information literacy has become indispensable for all generations in a digital society where shopping and administrative procedures can be done via the Internet. Especially in elementary through high schools, the GIGA school concept is advancing and an environment is being created where each student learns using a digital terminal, making the acquisition of information literacy even more important.
In order to realize "independent, interactive, and deep learning" as stated in the Courses of Study, LAC has been experimenting with courses incorporating gamification, which applies game elements and techniques, since last year. Through these efforts, we have confirmed that card games are an effective method of attracting children's interest and deepening their learning, and we have developed our own information literacy card game, "Riterakko," which can be played and learned by everyone from elementary school students to adults.
Riterakko" is a card game based on the "Compass for Information Literacy Awareness" (hereafter referred to as "Rashinban") published by the ICT Use Environment Awareness Support Office, and supervised by the same three experts who supervised the Rashinban. The game is designed to be played by children aged 10 or older, and is designed to help them naturally acquire the information literacy necessary in a digital society while playing the game.
