Welcome to Kawazu Cherry Blossom Land" event will be held in Taipei, Taiwan December 14 (Sat.) and 15 (Sun.) at Event Plaza No. 12 in Taipei Underground Mall, Taipei, Taiwan.

Kawazu Tourist Association (Headquarters: 72-12 Sasahara, Kawazu-cho, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture, President: Kazuko Yamada) will hold a "Welcome to Kawazu Cherry Blossom Country" event in Taiwan (Taipei) on December 14 and 15, 2024.

The event will mark the 70th anniversary of the discovery of Kawazu cherry trees and the 35th Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival, which will be held from February 1 to 28, 2025, and will introduce new tourism products based on local traditional culture and regional cuisine.

◆The 35th Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival

This year marks 70 years since the discovery of Kawazu cherry blossoms, a milestone for both Kawazu cherry blossoms and the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival. Together with the "Kawazu Cherry Blossom Terrace" built last year, we introduce a trip to Kawazu and Izu, and spring is already here....

In collaboration with students from Ming Chuan University Tourism College in Taiwan, we will introduce sightseeing spots in Kawazu Town, Izu and Shizuoka Prefecture.

◆"Kawazu Journey" to touch the earthly virtues, taste the delicacies of early winter, and enjoy traditional culture.

(1) Commercialization of the traditional performing art "Mitakashiki Sanbaso

The traditional Kawazu performing art "Mitaka-Shiki Sanbaso" is performed on non-festival days in cooperation with the local community, and special performances are planned in collaboration with lodging facilities.

(2) "Tori-Seishin-Shu-Seishin" Experience the tradition handed down at Kawazu Raigu Shrine

Guided tours of the local custom of "bird and egg deprivation and sake deprivation" during a certain period in December, as well as a local legend that has become a Japanese folktale, will be offered.

(3) Experience the local delicacy of zugani cuisine, a special meal served with wasabi (Japanese horseradish)

The rare zugani (mokuzu crab), available only for a limited time and in limited quantities, and wasabi (available only from October to December), which is nurtured by the water resources of the Amagi Mountains, recognized as a World Agricultural Heritage site.
