≪What is AGA? ≫
AGA (male pattern baldness) is a progressive alopecia that occurs in adult males and is characterized by the thinning of the "frontal" and "parietal" areas of the head compared to the temporal and occipital areas. Rather than a large amount of hair falling out at one time, the hairline of the forehead and the crown of the head gradually become thinner, and the area gradually widens with age, leading to the progression of symptoms. Thinning hair in adult men is often referred to as "AGA.
We conducted a survey on "the percentage of people using AGA drugs," "effectiveness of drugs," and "side effects of drugs," and compiled the results in an infographic.
As for AGA treatment, generic drugs are now available and treatment drugs are relatively inexpensive, so those suffering from thinning hair (AGA) are encouraged to use this information as a factor in deciding whether or not to start treatment.

■Q1-3 Have you ever used topical minoxidil (ointment)?
(Respondents: 2,538, Men in their 30s to 50s who have experienced AGA onset)
Topical minoxidil also resulted in an increase in the number of users among the younger generation, as awareness of AGA treatment has increased and prices have dropped with the start of generic drug sales.
[Supervisor's comments
AGA treatment is becoming well known, and the appearance of generic drugs for all three drugs has lowered their prices, resulting in a high rate of use among the younger generation, who are more likely to be concerned about thinning hair, and AGA drugs are widely used.
Topical minoxidil is the most widely used drug, and the fact that it is available at drugstores and can be used in combination with finasteride and dutasteride, both of which are oral medications, is another reason why so many people have used it.
The percentage of users of finasteride prescribed by hospitals was also close to that of users of topical minoxidil.

≪Initial hair loss caused by AGA drugs
Initial hair loss
When AGA medicines are taken or applied, the hair that was in the resting phase may fall out all at once due to the influence of new hair growth.
This phenomenon is called "initial hair loss," and it is believed that hair loss may temporarily increase.
■Q3 Did you experience initial hair loss within 6 months after starting treatment with AGA medication or application?
(Respondents: 741 who have taken finasteride, 505 who have taken dutasteride, 757 who have used topical minoxidil)
■For detailed graphs of "efficacy" and "initial hair loss" for each treatment drug, please refer to the attached press release.
≪Side effects of AGA drugs≫.
Q4 Did you experience any side effects of "erectile dysfunction (ED)" or "decreased libido" as a result of taking finasteride or dutasteride?
(Number of respondents: 741 who have taken finasteride and 505 who have taken dutasteride)
Supervisor's comment
In this survey, side effects of erectile dysfunction (ED) and decreased libido occurred at a higher rate.
Since the age at which thinning hair (AGA) develops/progresses and the age at which erectile dysfunction (ED) develops/progresses are almost the same, there may be cases where ED develops while taking AGA medications and is considered a side effect of AGA medications.
If ED symptoms occur, it is advisable to consult a medical institution because there are therapeutic drugs available.

≪What is Hamamatsucho Daiichi Clinic?
Hamamatsucho Daiichi Clinic was established in Hamamatsucho in October 2004 by Dr. Akihiko Takekoshi, the current director of the clinic, as a clinic specializing in ED and AGA. We have decided to provide medical services exclusively to male patients, and our doctors, pharmacists, and receptionists are all male, out of consideration for our patients who may find it difficult to discuss their male-specific problems in the presence of female patients.
In addition, for busy office workers, we have eliminated lunch breaks at all of our clinics so that they can come to our clinic at any time of the day and can receive their prescriptions by coming directly to our clinic during our office hours. After filling out a medical questionnaire and interviewing with the doctor, you will be able to receive your prescription in the hospital for only the cost of the medication.
As a rule of thumb, it takes about 10 minutes from the time of your visit to the time you receive your medication and leave the clinic.
Based on our long years of experience and knowledge as a specialized clinic, we regularly provide correct knowledge and the latest information on ED and AGA treatment to the public and educate men suffering from ED and AGA.
