The Kinki LiD/APD Association (Representative: Yoshitada Watanabe), a voluntary organization, will hold the 7th Kinki LiD/APD Association-sponsored lecture meeting "I want you to know the world of LiD/APD and Listning" on January 12, 2025 (Sunday) at the Healthy Cafe "Sakura Terrace 2F Salon" in i-Mall, Minami Ogimachi, Kita-ku, Osaka City. A Q&A session will also be held.

LiD/APD (hearing impairment/auditory processing disorder), a condition in which a person has the same difficulty in hearing as a person with hearing loss when exposed to noisy environments, multiple voices, fast speech, or degraded speech such as webinars, has been increasing in Japan in recent years, despite no abnormalities being found in hearing tests commonly performed at otolaryngology clinics. In recent years, it has been found that the percentage of children with LiD/APD is about 1%, which is not a small percentage in Japan.

In Japan, the symptoms themselves are not well recognized by many people, there is a lack of social support, and the understanding of people with hearing loss itself is not widespread in society as a whole, There is a tendency for people with hearing loss to isolate themselves and live in isolation.

This event will provide information on this situation through evidence-based medical lectures and self-presentations by people with hearing loss in their own words.

The medical lecture will be given by Dr. Koichi Sakamoto, Deputy Director of Otorhinolaryngology, Iseikai International General Hospital, who is a leading researcher on LiD/APD in Japan.
