DrunkenBird Inc. (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yasuyuki Momoyo), a film production, planning, editing, sound recording, and sound conditioning company, opened the "DrunkenBird Cafe," an all-smoking coffee shop operated by film staff, on January 9, 2025 (Thursday) in Shinjuku Kabuki-cho (1 minute walk from Shinjuku Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line and 8 minutes walk from the East Exit of JR Shinjuku Station) on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

We thought that the "good location and not being on the street" would make it easy to access, and by not setting the prices low, we thought we could appeal to the "environment-seeking" clientele, since not too many people would come. Another feature of the restaurant is that all seats are smoke-free.

*A place that will lead to employment for film staff

Our representative, Mr. Momoka, usually works as a technical staff for commercial films and TV dramas. When people around me started calling me a veteran, I wanted to give back and contribute to the film industry, and I thought it would be interesting to have an environment where I could work in a different genre of film production, including film and television.

In France and Korea, a few percent of movie tickets are pooled as a movie tax to support the industry and the people who work in it, and we thought it would be a good idea to help young staff in the industry and people who are injured and in need of a place to work.

Our representative himself has no experience working in the restaurant industry, so we asked a friend of ours from our days at the Film School of Tokyo, Junichi Hatakeyama (screenwriter, whose representative works include TBS Sunday Theater's "Atom's Child" and Fuji Television's "The Strange Story '21 Autumn Special") to help with the start-up staff.

We are also planning to have several other staff members working on active filming locations who have expressed interest in joining us for a shift.
