The Shochu Tourism Executive Committee will hold "Shochu Tourism Kagoshima 2025" in Hioki City and Ichiki-Kushikino City on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Purpose of Shochu Tourism Kagoshima

Kagoshima's climate has nurtured the culture of imo-jochu (sweet potato shochu). Shochu Tourism Kagoshima is an event that allows visitors to experience with all five senses the charms of imo-jochu, which can only be felt in the area where it is produced.

The purpose of this event is twofold

1. to deepen participants' understanding of the subtle differences in shochu, the particularities of each brewery, and the characteristics of the region where the shochu is produced, and to attract new shochu fans.

2. to create an economic impact on the region by allowing participants to explore the shochu production areas, eat, drink, shop, and stay overnight.

Features of Shochu Tourism Kagoshima

Shochu Brewery Tour Bus

A tour bus will take visitors between shochu breweries that are normally inaccessible by public transportation.

Dialogue with the Master Shochu Brewer and Tasting

At each shochu brewery, you will have a chance to taste shochu while talking with the toji (master distiller). This is an opportunity to find your favorite shochu. This is not an all-you-can-drink tour.

Experience the local climate

Walking around each shochu brewery, you can directly experience the climate and culture of the region where shochu was created.

Looking to the Future of the Shochu Industry

Young employees of each shochu brewery, students studying fermentation, and others participate in the executive committee to prepare for the event, transcending company boundaries.

Eligibility : 20 years old or older

　　　　　　　 Bus ticket 1,100 yen for elementary school students and under 20 years old, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
