The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route (operated by Tateyama Kurobe Kanko Co., Ltd., headquartered in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture), one of the world's leading mountain tourism routes connecting Toyama and Nagano Prefectures, will hold various events from April 15, 2025 (Tuesday), including the "Snow Wall Walk" which visitors can experience the overwhelming height of snow walls, to enjoy the Tateyama Kurobe area in spring. The events will be held on April 15, 2025.
What is the "Snow Wall"?
The area around Murodo, which is 2,450 meters above sea level, is one of the world's heaviest snowfall areas, and a huge wall of snow called "Snow Wall"(Yuki no Otani) is formed when the roads through the "Otani area" are cleared of snow. The "Snow Wall Walk" is a typical spring event in Tateyama Kurobe that attracts many tourists from Japan and abroad.

The overwhelming power of the Snow Wall
The Snow Wall is created by clearing snow from the road leading to Murodo.
The snow removal work to Murodo starts in early February around Tateyama Station at the foot of Tateyama, and usually takes about two months.

The Murodo area is a "summer resort above the clouds" where you can spend a pleasant summer from early summer to summer in June and July because the temperature is about 15°C lower than in the plains. What is the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route?
The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is one of the world's most famous mountain tourism routes located in Tateyama, Chubu-Sangaku National Park. Visitors can easily enjoy the spectacular views of the 3,000-meter-high Tateyama Mountain Range and Kurobe Dam by taking one of six different vehicles, including cable cars, buses, and ropeways, between Tateyama Station in Toyama Prefecture and Ogisawa in Nagano Prefecture.
