We are pleased to announce the opening of the Asakusa Sumo Stables and Annex, “Asakusa Sumo Stables – ANNEX ”, so that foreign visitors to Japan can enjoy Japanese food and culture, which are both popular and satisfying.

One of the highlights of the Asakusa Sumo stable is the events that allow visitors to enjoy the tradition, history, and culture of sumo, a popular content for foreigners in Asakusa that is crowded with inbound tourists these days.

The annex "Asakusa Sumo Room -ANNEX-" is differentiated from previous Asakusa Sumo Rooms by its emphasis on entertainment and food and beverage offerings to enhance customer satisfaction.

The annex, "Asakusa Sumo Room - ANNEX-," features a real sumo ring where sumo wrestlers (former sumo wrestlers) will put on a powerful performance show. The sumo show, which will be performed in English, will include sumo gestures, matches, and audience participation in a sumo wrestling challenge with the wrestlers.

In addition to sumo, the show opens with a dance performance by geisha, and concludes with a group photo opportunity with the wrestlers in the ring.

The restaurant will serve an original sukiyaki-ju, as well as Japanese tempura and chanko-nabe, and first-class customer will be offered an all-you-can-drink package that includes Yamazaki, Hibiki, Hakushu, and other premium Japanese whiskeys. Business Class  customer will also be able to enjoy a variety of premium Japanese whiskeys.

In addition, a separate meal menu will be available for vegans (*reservations required).

In Japan, people have enjoyed entertainment such as kabuki and plays over a boxed lunch since the Edo period (1603-1867), so you can also experience the traditional viewing culture.

◆A dohyo with the same care as a real dohyo ◆

The ring is made of Arakida-do, the same material used in the Kokugikan and in the practice halls of certain sumo stables.

The clayey soil contains a moderate amount of sand, making it non-slip and resistant to vibration, making it ideal for use in sports such as the Kokugikan ring and pitcher's mound.

Dohyo Dawara

The bales of the dohyo are made of rice straw woven into thin bales with soil inside. Our shop ones are made of the same material and shape as those used in the Tokyo Grand Sumo Tournament.

◆A wide variety of "Asakusa Sumo Room -ANNEX-" original goods and souvenirs for inbound customers.

Meals

Sukiyaki-jyu, tempura, and chanko-nabe will be served.

お食事

Meals

We offer three types of Japanese cuisine for you to enjoy Japanese culture.

Sukiyaki, a typical Japanese dish, is served in a stacked box, and tempura is also served together in a set meal for each guest.

Chanko-nabe, a dish that cannot be separated from sumo, is also served.

The owner's wish that guests enjoy a moment of contact with sumo, which is normally unavailable, is evident in the attention to detail that goes into the cuisine.

The chanko-nabe is a "special soy sauce chanko-nabe" supervised by a former sumo wrestler, Chankoban. It is a combination of four dashi broths (jidori chicken, bonito, kombu, and shiitake mushroom), which gives the dish a light yet rich flavor.

Vegan dishes are also available (*please inquire at the time of reservation).
