Natural rubber brand DRYAS

Sponges to natural rubber from synthetic rubber.

For about 100 years since its development, synthetic rubber (chloroprene) derived from petroleum has been used for the sponge used in wetsuits, but since it emits enormous amounts of CO2 during the production, research is continuing with the aim of switching to natural rubber, which is closer to being carbon neutral . (We are aiming to launch the product by the end of 2025)

Next, we are switching to recycled nylon, which is made from used fishing nets, for the fabric attached to the surface of the sponge (already on the market).

The quality of the product is comparable to that of regular products, and the number of adoption is gradually increasing among highly conscious customers.

Laminating to water-based adhesive.

The company is also switching from organic solvent-based adhesives, which emit VOC gases that contribute to global warming, to water-based adhesives for the bonding materials used to bond these components together.

The company has already succeeded in making chloroprene rubber laminates with water-based adhesives, and is currently working on making natural rubber laminates with water-basedadhesives.(research is underway to make this possible by the end of 2025).
