Narumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry District Renaissance Project Published "Renaissance Narumi Quiz Map

The Narumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Midori Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) launched the Narumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry District Renaissance Project in October 2024 to enhance the attractiveness of the Narumi area, and has invited volunteer members within the community to engage in discussions about the area's attractions. As part of this project, we are pleased to announce the publication of the "Renaissance Narumi Quiz Map.

The Narumi district is an attractive town with many existing historical assets such as temples, shrines, and ancient tombs, and the town has many greenery and gentle slopes. In addition to long-time residents of the district, many new residents of Midori-ku have become new residents due to these attractions, and the overall satisfaction level of the district is high due to its residential and educational environment.

On the other hand, although the area once prospered commercially as a post town on the Tokaido Highway, the town is fading away and its historical legacy is being lost.

Looking at the historical value of the Narumi area, if we plot the Tokaido Highway stretching from the upper reaches of the Ogigawa River crossing the center of the district to the area downstream, which used to be the sea, the ancient burial mound sites spreading above it, and the scattered historical resources such as shrines and temples, the area has a shape similar to Fleming's Law. This shape was used as an image to symbolize the region.

In the Narumi district, people have a strong love for their hometown, and there are groups that pass on historical legacies, local festivals, a preservation society for the Shojo (anthropomorphic giants that ward off evil spirits), and product development such as the production of Tokushige Daikon as a new agricultural product in the district. In order to promote awareness of the charms of the Narumi district both within and outside the district, a "Renaissance Narumi Quiz Map" has been produced.

For visitors to Narumi and new residents of the district, how much do you know about Narumi? We selected 12 places in the area and made them into a map quiz.

We hope that the quiz will be distributed to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as to stores and offices in the area, so that people will be able to tell others about the charms of Narumi and use this quiz as an opportunity to get to know Narumi even more deeply.

We have made the reverse side of the map quiz in English in order to convey the message to people from overseas who can visit Narumi.

In order to make the Narumi district more attractive, the Narumi Renaissance Project will work to create local attractions and encourage product development in the coming year.
