The previous film "Onsen Shark" was born from crowdfunding; the project started in June 2023 and surpassed its target of 1 million yen within 5 hours of its launch, eventually garnering over 11.4 million yen in support.

With this support, the film was released nationwide as "Japan's first shark film" and ranked No. 1 in the mini-theater rankings in the summer of 2024! With the enthusiastic support of audiences, the film expanded its screening nationwide for a two-month long run, eventually becoming a blockbuster hit with screenings at 43 theaters.

The film was also successfully expanded overseas, with official screenings at "Paris Shark Week" in France and "San Sebastián Horror & Independent Film Festival" in Spain.

Hot Springs Shark 2" is a sequel to "Hot Springs Shark", a shark movie that created a sensation as a shark movie originating from Japan. This time, the setting is Kyushu, a treasure trove of hot springs. With an even larger scale story and special effects scenes, the film aims to win the hearts and minds of the audience.

Synopsis

Kyushu, one of the most famous hot spring resorts in Japan, is suddenly struck by a strange phenomenon. The hot spring water is filled with a cloud of smoke, and the number of unsolved disappearances has skyrocketed. Behind it all, the shadow of the "Onsen Shark" has reappeared.

The main characters, who run a local onsen ryokan, are determined to confront this unprecedented situation while their tourist hot spring resort is plunged into crisis. In order to protect the beauty of nature and the lives of the people, they gather their wits and courage to take on the threats that keep coming. However, behind the scenes, a "new conspiracy" begins to unfold that no one could have predicted.

Will they be able to save the people of Kyushu from the horror that envelops the region and restore peace to the hot spring resort? The curtain now opens on the epic battle that will unfold in the "land of hot springs.

A new challenge involving the local community: filming planned in Oguni-cho, Kumamoto and other locations in Kyushu

Kyushu is home to many famous hot spring resorts, and we will be filming with the cooperation of Oguni Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, and the Aso area.
